"We hope to keep feeding you."

Well, that's seems a bit omnious. However, I like this way of getting your message across, rather than the "completely stop the race" approach.

Isn't this illegal pacing for Ineos?

Shouldn't there be a penalty? Carapaz isn't even trying to jump from car to car. He's being motorpaced!

Noooo... commentator: the organizers are very content with this start in the Netherlands and will very likely come back here... :tearsofjoy:
The Dutch pay good money to GT organisers to host the races, and the crappy boring flat stages which aren't as good as lowland racing in one-day races or smaller stage races (largely due to everybody having something to protect for three weeks rather than it being worth taking risks here, and a bunch of riders who aren't used to this type of racing being in the bunch) make Unipublic's disappointing mountain stages look better, so why wouldn't they be happy with it? As long as the Dutch don't design a demolition derby, which is always a possibility with their road furniture, and half the contenders crash out before they get to Spain, then it works for everybody. Except the fans, who have been served up a lot of awful Grand Départs in recent years. The Netherlands feels like it's hosted more GT starts than the actual GT hosts in the last 15 years.

Dutch starts have worked out OK a couple of times though, the 2010 Giro and the 2015 Tour are examples of that.

by loose convention they usually don't care that much about a GC rider crashing on a sprint day, though it depends how much the organizers are desperate for drama to happen on an incredibly long bridge

it's sort of a series of loose conventions but doing so when the racing is "on", or in a major one-day race is going to be far more scrutinized than if a GC guy crashes on a flat day during normal break/catch racing. also depends on how many times the commissar yells at you
