Vine aiming to be 2008 David Moncoutié here. Think that's a great call for him, as he can get a good GC just by being just far enough down to be allowed to go on these escapades where people know he's point-chasing for the GPM but he can hang on and finish either gaining a bit of time or at least losing very little to the GC men when they arrive - but he doesn't have to spend so much time in a large péloton or worry about fighting for position.

Just got 2 hours in in the bank on the road after the breakaway formed, seemed like I havent missed that much? I wonder why QS are so adamant about keeping the break on such a short leash, is it Landa, or does Evenepoel also want to win? Regardless, QS can't ride like this throughout, and they will especially have a hard time on stage 15 and 20.

I think Remco still believes that he can win this stage. He is probably gutted to have missed it on stage 6 and given the uncertainty around covid it makes some sense.

I can't believe commentators are still speculating about someone from the peloton winning the stage. If that has to happen, Jay Vine and Landa both have to have a massive breakdown on the climb.
Wouldn't surprise me that much. It can definitely happen, but break seems to have the best opportunities.

It can happen, but would take a lot at this time.

Break gap coming down. Remco seems to be feeling well. Maybe he goes on a berserker ride for the stage win, crushing the hopes of all contenders?

That won't happen. Even if QS crank up the watts and unleash Evenepoel, he won't outclimb the front group by 2/3 minutes which is full of top climbers. Vine outclimbed Remco on Thursday so he certainly won't be taking 3 minutes off him today on a 10k climb.

They've also been in the break all day
