Think that's a great call for him, as he can get a good GC just by being just far enough down to be allowed to go on these escapades where people know he's point-chasing for the GPM but he can hang on and finish either gaining a bit of time or at least losing very little to the GC men when they arrive - but he doesn't have to spend so much time in a large péloton or worry about fighting for position.

That won't happen. Even if QS crank up the watts and unleash Evenepoel, he won't outclimb the front group by 2/3 minutes which is full of top climbers. Vine outclimbed Remco on Thursday so he certainly won't be taking 3 minutes off him today on a 10k climb.
