No exactly as expected. The only way he would still be leader was if he was the first Jumbo over the line. Not going to happen.
Teunissen looked fast could get a stage in this field.

That was before the team meeting for this stage. Getting it yesterday was the gift for Gesink, they didn't commit to keeping it for 3 stages, so if you're probably gonna offload it to someone you ofload it to a Dutch rider who alos happens to be the best at placing himself in that bunch sprint.

It's an easy choice IMO

Thijssen being involved in the crash indicates that the crash happened quite close to the front so I do assume the gap was caused by it.

Easy to look fast when you do the whole sprint drafted and push no wind.

True, but he also has shown in the past he can beat top sprinters. He lacks support obviously so needs to get lucky here.
Also Red and Yellow not bad for a rider who always rides support in GT's.

They can try but at the same time it's a bit of an annoying amount of effort. You need to keep Oomen, Kuss and Roglic up there and then you probably need to ask Teunissen/Affini to drop time deliberately

Pro cycling stats & the Vuelta official site have Roglič 4th on GC with same time. I trust they're correct.
