I just saw a photo of Giau in snow at the Dolomiti Passione channel on Instagram. Can't verify how current it is.Will the babies playing pro cyclists even allow the Bondone and Tre Cime stages go ahead? That is too much climbing, especially if there is a drop of rain for them. It might also be too long and interfere with their nap time
The babies didn't want to race today
Compromise on short stage avoids Giro d'Italia rider strike and chaos
'It's us, the riders, who go out there and put our bodies on the line' says race leader Geraint Thomaswww.cyclingnews.com
Race leader Geraint Thomas confirmed that if RCS Sport and the UCI officials had not agreed to cut the stage, the riders could have gone on strike... One well-informed source suggested to Cyclingnews that if relations had spiralled out of control, the Giro d’Italia could have even struggled to reach the finish in Rome.
This never would have happened in the Lance and Ullrich era (likely not during the Contador era either). They raced in bad weather. They climbed multiple mountains in a given day. These babies won't race the mountains in rain
Real GT fans deeply appreciate and admire no GC action whatsoever? No action from GC guys whatsoever. A GT stage classic. Something real GT fans deeply appreciate and admire.

Except there was no longer an extreme weather protocol in place at the time . You do yourself no favors by making personal attacks on riders and the like in this forum.
Karel Vacek's chain.
That exploded.
It was for many years, and many suspect that it still is.This constant appeal for needles ... It's not what GT racing in it's core is all about.
Do you really think so? Is this a stage you will have fond memories of for many years? One that will be long remembered and listed among the most notable? I think you may be misusing the word 'classic'.A GT stage classic. Something real GT fans deeply appreciate and admire.
How is integrity acheived by compromise and refusal to accept a challenge? As for the stage itself. First shortened, to try to keep the integrity of this Giro edition,
Jan Ullrich probably shakes his head, laughs and thinks "Okay. Then I would've won the 1998 Tour de France!"The babies didn't want to race today

and what was the extreme weather today?
It was decided by the Giro organizers and the CPA - This is not just about poor weather at this Giro but look at the ordinary stage design which contributes to the issues - Italy has the best terrain to organise a well designed route, however, like you they live in the past - We don't need monster climbing stages but a variety of hard mountain stages.
What’s the issue with monster climbing stages? It’s just like a TT and part of a balanced GT route.

I think it's a mental thing. People were afraid of yesterdays stage being too ahrd all things together. This was always gonna be a big breakaway, with the climb being cold but everything else being really softly paced.im still baffled by what happened yesterday. why was yesterdays stage such a problem but today was fine? you would think getting todays climb cancelled would've made way more sense.
Plus fear of the unknown of the new technical descent that no one knew about.I think it's a mental thing. People were afraid of yesterdays stage being too ahrd all things together. This was always gonna be a big breakaway, with the climb being cold but everything else being really softly paced.
Go down the side they climb normally? Yes that would ruffle all the feathers. But it would also be pointless.Plus fear of the unknown of the new technical descent that no one knew about.
Would Finestre descent generate as much talk?
No, go down the usual they descend after the gravel part.Go down the side they climb normally? Yes that would ruffle all the feathers. But it would also be pointless.
I don‘t think technicality is the issue. I don‘t recall the Finestre descent exactly but I think the pavement wasn‘t bad?!No, go down the usual they descend after the gravel part.
Was comparing if a descent as technical as the one we had yesterday but already known from being present in several editions would generate as much concern and panic as a new one.
