I sense a lot of frustration building up already, clouding the vision of several posters. I agree the giro has been underwhelming to say the least, but instead of spending your energy on getting more and more fed up with it, just quit watching it. It is actually beginning to get more annoying reading the grumpy posts than watching a rather short highlight reel of each stage...

The riders make the race, and these guys do not want to race at all. The current top 5 in GC consists of four guys who combine for maybe seven attacks in their lives, and Leknessund. Every race gets the winner it deserves, and these guys would be perfect winners alright. All of them being bland, boring and forgettable, just like the race.
Unfortunately the Giro has become the grand tour of stage alterations and the main problem is the timing of the race and its position on the calendar. The other two races rarely have the same issues and the weather of the past week has been historic in Italy so it's not easy at all for the organizers but it's up to the riders and team to make the race in whatever form. The stage yesterday was probably the worst short stage I have ever watched from the GC point of view. Without the action in the break it would have been lights out for me and I was already semi comatose...............the race badly needs a dramatic final week.

Due to a lack of GC action in this race, I think the they should have an ITT to the top of the Simplonpass. The rest of the riders wait at the top for them, then they all continue to the end of the race for the sprinters to have their day.

I will never understand the people, and that is a very general remark, meant exactly that generally, who complain about others critisizing things. Yes, people who always complain about everything and don't value any beauty or positive surprises when they come up, who only try to find fault with everything, are annoying and depressing. But things don't change for the better when everybody just goes "oh this is fine, could be worse, look at the bright side, I enjoy everything no matter what".
For improvement you usually need critisicm. And people also critisize because they care and want improvement.

Not taking it personally, cause I understand your point. To me seeing some posters repeat the same angry sentiments over and over, without any reflections and perspective, just gets tedious. It's the equivalent of the Einstein Insanity.
This is SoMe, so of course the CN forum is also an outlet, and I personally love the ironic jabs some posters give the giro, but how some people start their day in such a foul mood is beyond me. Makes you wonder how they would react if they also had to ride a bike in pouring rain for hundreds of kilometers several days in a row, when watching a neutered race makes them react this way.

They can cancel it because too much rain in the past days or whatever, but this is not included in the extreme weather protocol. 5 Degree and snow at the sides is not freezing rain.
If they cancel it, they need to communicate the reason, otherwise we'll have chaos before a lot of stages in the future.

If the riders vote again the sprinter teams and the GC teams will vote in favor of cancelling. The breakaway riders and good descenders are the guys who loose out.

While a funny post, there is also more than a grain of truth here. I imagine many/most were coming into this primed for the epic Remco/Rog/Ineos showdown, with all the expectations/hopes/baggage that entails; to instead be served what is arguably the worst first two weeks of any GC in recent memory, with no sign of relief in sight, is just pushing some over the edge. First world problems, yes, but there's the passion for you.

So, is this better than watching Pogacar, Vingegaard and Van der Poel doing impossible stuff? At least we don't know who the winner will be and the GC-race is very close and unpredictable!

Also, jsut go ahead and cancel Simplonpass. Who cares!

Van der Poel getting dropped from breakaways doing 5.3 W/kg uphill is so entertaining tho
