After re-watching the helicopter shot replay, it was clear that Remco was looking behind on his left side and at the same time moving to his right, while trek rider comes fast on the right, and when Remco looks forward it's too late. I'm no pro, but in my eyes, that's on him and him alone.

Even if he doesn't swerve himself and someone from behind goes from your right to your left?
Watching behind in the final is never a good idea though.

No seriously good result for them, but these kind of stages need te be neutralised in the last 10km. Just let the sprinters take risks for the win if they want. Italian roads are just to slippery in this kind of weather.

Yeah, the dust and sand on the road (mainly in Southern Italy) is like soap once it gets wet.

Cav stopped sprinting after his back wheel slipped but then he went 2m to the right for no reason... should've just continue straight imho. He already was out of fight after his back wheel slipped anyway. imho

He swerved because Dainese chopped his wheel. Dainese started his sprint to the right of Cav & ended up on the far left to everyone else.
