Lampaert is regional de l'etape. They organised it in Izegem because of Lampaert.
So Lampaert is doing a tour de gloire, but will soon be told to back off a bit. But the longer he and WvA stay in front, the more work Alpecin has to do, and (if they catch him ofcourse) the less chance WvA has. So I see this as a move to help Soudal (and Merlier in particular, maybe Evenepoel with a move...)

If Lampaert is doing this with the thought of tiring out Wout as much as possible, while also giving SQS a rest and, with that, eating into the numbers of Alpecin in the mean time, it is smart. However, I do not trust Lampaert.

Yeah exactly what I'm thinking lmao. It looks super smart, great tactics, IF Lampaert stops riding at some point
