You have to say Vingegaard is a magnificent athlete, though you'd never have known to look at him

one wonders how many young guys in chicken factories are out there that never try and don't know what they are capable of

EDIT Of course its not just about ability , its also about character and training
Was the Chicken created in a chicken factory? :anguished::grin:

Don't know how many people watched in Spanish, or what network, but in my broadcast, near the end @ last 20-30k commentator made a comment about Jonas..something about being alien.. It was kind of funny
I think he said extraterrestrial..

there's strong wind on the forecast for tomorrow afternoon, but I guess they'd need to do the circuit the other way around (they do it clockwise) for it to have much effect

It was a bit more. 6.5 w/kg.
He is in better shape this year in march, but he still has room for improvement until july.
Yep. Keep in mind both yesterday and today topped at ~1100 m, and was with much fresher legs. Only normal of course that the Tour shape is on another level.

Max Poole fractured elbow, 6-12 weeks recovery apparently, but you know what cyclists are like.

Bardet concussion, bad look for DSM with Onley out too.

The way Poole wasn't moving I thought he'd broken his neck or something so a relief in a way.

7.2-7.3 15 min climb
Bro, now seriously, it's not enough to beat Vingegaard, especially when those numbers were done when he was fresh in training (like the ftp test he did, you are basing yourself on that).

I don't even need to leak Visma data. Go check engineer frederic portoleau calculations.

I trust in your statements, but it would be very strange if Pogacar has not improved since 2020, or 2022.

It's not just the numbers, of course Pogacar's level in 20/30/35 minutes is close to vingegaard's level, but when you have specific conditions like a a very long mountain stage with multiple climbs, a climb with >35 minutes effort, climbs with a lot of altitude, vingegaard is superior to everybody and can take time.

Other advantage by Vingegaard in addition to his abilities to recover, is that he can do hard efforts day and day out during 3 weeks with consistency, it's like grinding and grinding, day after day, and then "you" will fade.

He is the ultimate and the best GC rider in the world, and probably the best climber since Pantani.

Don't get me wrong, Pogacar would have now 4 Tours de France if Vingegaard didn’t appeared, and Pogacar will finish his career has an all time great.

Let's enjoy this generation of riders.

Its definitely a joy that we got two riders like Vingegaard & Pogacar as they do seem to be quite a margin ahead of the rest, and it would be a shame if it simply were plain TdF sailing year after year without any real competing cycling aspect other than crashes and surrounding circumstances that could flip an expected win..

Bardet has had a number of concussions in recent years if I'm not mistaken. I think he's indicated that this may be his last year. That may not be a bad thing; I enjoy his off bike perspective so would hate to see any neurological impairment.

Poole must have been in shock because he was barely moving. Hopefully his recovery goes well.
