Only top 4 GC rider who helped a teammate win Tour de France - and did it with a broken back. But don't let facts interfere with your imagination
Indeed he did that because he was injured, otherwise he wouldn’t have done that. And on top of that he then left the TDF instead of helping more because he cared more about the Vuelta and his own success.

And your statement about “he’s the only top 4 GC rider that helped someone else win a TDF”. It’s not Vingegaard’s fault that Roglic didn’t win before 2022, he helped him a lot too.

Didn't he ride around with a broken back or something like that? Maybe stop acting as if he just stopped the race like Ayuso did this year...

Overall Pog is obviously a better rider, but in a one day race on such terrain the balance of power between the two is not at all clear cut.
This Route suits Pogi very well too. These short explosive climbs are ideal for him. And Pogi has got the better sprint which is a big plus for him as Evenepoel will have to drop him which is unlikely. However, I would say there is more chance of Pogi winning solo than Evenepoel winning solo

I can't help but wonder if Wout is going to surprise us with his performance. He didn't show much at the Tour, but those three weeks had to be good training. He had a few good sprint showings, so he's not that far off the mark.

Or maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part? We shall see!

Largely I agree with this having seen the season Pog has had, but I do believe that in this type of race they are close enough in ability for it not to be a foregone conclusion. What makes that duel intriguing is that while Pog is more likely the get the gap, Remco is the more likely to be able to hold and consolidate the one. In the end it could just come down to kind of form they are able to build for the late season.
