Standings

What I said about Roubaix enormously outscoring Scheldeprijs doesn't apply here of course. I think this is the first race where an outright top score hasn't pushed that manager into the top 10, so I'll give a top 15:

Overall points
Evereyone in the top twelve here has both Van Aert and F Vermeersch, so that rather flattened out the changes that so many other points might have been expected to bring about.

Cobbles are, to all intents and purposes, now behind us, so in many teams it is a different set of riders that will carry the burden of our hopes from now on.

I has only occurred to me that I don't think I had ever linked to the spreadsheet, in which case you would have had access to the update data since Sunday night. Here it is

This was late, but at least I have it out of the way before Brabantse Pijl tomorrow, our next installment.

In 2016, and again (though not as dramatically) in 2018, Enrico Gasparotto scored freely in the Ardennes to expose some teams who had overlooked those races in their selections, and greatly changed the table towards the end: will any rider serve the same function this time around?

We might get clues on Sunday.

Overall

For all that there is a general perception that Van Aert is performing below expectations, the lowest placed team that has him only has two non-WvA teams above it, and the highest without him only sits ahead of two that include him.

Benoot moved DJW and Ruvu a little closer to the podium, but otherwise there were only small differences between those high in the rankings. And our leader remains just ahead of the Collective Wisdom team, with

So, how much post-cobble change in the table is on the cards? Essentially, the balance of the game sits on Pidcock's shoulders in L-B-L, and then see what happens with other riders.

All eyes on Pidcock on Sunday for the penultimate event.

I did actually select some riders with these races in mind, but none of them seem to be doing much. A top-4 for Pidcock on Sunday would therefore be enough for EITB to overtake me.
Top 4 might be a bit of a stretch. Evenepoel and Pogacar will almost take two of those spots, that doesn't leave much room. But it's fun to see one of those games come down to the wire considering the non competitive nature of the last few editions of the main game.

Frankfurt is always a bit of a lottery in this game as nobody really knows which riders are going to race there when building their team so Pidcock doing well in LBL might not be enough anyway.

The top three on today's points were already the top three in this classification. And no-one else is within range of removing any of them from the podium in the one remaining event.

Pidcock didn't have the result that would have made a change at the top, and Ingsve loses his podium spot for want of Bagioli.
