Ciccone could raise his glasses to a job well done after the first stage, but will he be paying for that effort later today?
Stage 2: Mezzolombardo - Sterzing/Ratschings-Vipiteno/Racines, 178 km
The riders will make their way north towards the Austrian border, but they won't be crossing it yet.
The first climb to Petersberg/Monte San Pietro is the 2 km on profile above plus 800 m at 7%, followed by the stretch between km 4 and 20 on the profile below. In total, it's 19 km at around 6% avg.
Then we got this short climb (shown as a descent here) before an actual descent to Ponte Nova/Birchabruck.
Then the last 6.8 km on this profile of Obergummer/San Valentino di Soprano (yes we got both a mezzo and a soprano on this stage).
The climb to Kastelruth/Castelrotto is this one until 9 km from the top
There are some more climbing before the riders reach Sterzing/Vipiteno for the first time, but nothing major. Then they'll ride the climb to Obertelfes/Telves di Sopra twice during the last 30 km. 10 km remain after the final crossing.
