I hope so, but she needs to iron out that inconsistency in longer form stage races to be able to contend for the "GT" type races. She's going to be the obvious and mainly unquestioned leader for most of the races she'll be doing after Annemiek retires and she's still a way off reaching what you'd call physical peak years.

Maybe if they could make that climbing style a bit more efficient, when it gets really steep she bobs her head like Benedikt Doll operating a jackhammer, and that expend a lot of energy.

Why no break?
There's been a few small ones but none big enough to stick. Now that we do have one, it's got a Movistar rider in it.

...and Floortje is the strongest in that break as well and now is away solo. A lot of bumpy terrain from here on in though, Floortje is a good ATV but depends on the action behind as she only has a minute - and may be needed by Annemiek (although I doubt it, IJzeren 'miek has plenty of time in hand and Patiño and Lippert in the group with her).

It doesn't look too bad for Mackaij here. Some of the teams behind don't want to push it on the climb, cause they need to make sure their sprinters don't get dropped. If she still has a minute or more at the top, she's in with a chance.

Well, either that time gap wasn't right or Floortje sat up when NFB and Ewers came off the front because that timegap evaporated in less time than she supposedly had.

Having driven some of these road myself
I am quite surprised the potholes have been so few.

BTW the lack of spectators along the way is due to muggy heat today
especially in the interior of the island.

Yea, Marty did say it was 38º a few minutes ago.

Disastrous time for a mechanical for Bastianelli.

Paladin towing foreeeeeever there. Dygert's inexperience at this level of péloton starts to show as Canyon did a lot of leading out but she was so badly placed. She got there in the end to finish 2nd but she had to do a lot of work in the last kilometre to get there. Great finish from Blanka Vas, she had the best line. Lippert strong but that wasn't tough enough a finish for her to neutralise the faster sprinters, and she probably went a bit too soon too. Think Vas would have won regardless, she had a pretty comprehensive margin.

That was a deceptively hard finish - Have no doubt that Vos would have won if she did not suffer a mechanical - This kind of finish is Vos' bread and butter.

The painful thing is, that wasn't a mechanical. Vos just didn't have it. This would indeed have been perfect for the old Vos but she's just not that rider anymore.

Before the last km there's about 1.5 km of 4.5%, and then the last 300 meters are aboud 2.5%, There are a few other small lumps inside the last 10 km, but since the penultimate climb isn't too difficult, it will probably end in a sprint. Even SD Worx might be interested in a sprint after they saw what Blanka Vas was capable of in Tour de Suisse.
Well predicted. ;)

Maybe, but she still won 2 stages in La Vuelta against a stronger group of sprinters.

Probably slightly easier finishes. I think she explodes earlier than she would have done, maybe because of her artery issues, I don't know. Climbs and uphill finishes that used to suit her are now all a little too long.

Chiara rocks. I'm happy with that win :)

sadly the interviewer didn't ask her what her plans are for tomorrow.

You can take the riders out of Valcar, but you can never take the Valcar out of the riders.

A shame for Vos that Wollaston made it harder for her to win the stage.

Uno-X tried to do a massive lead out for Andersen, but they started riding way too soon.
