I did wonder before the start would we see riders start doing this, I guess yesterday's stage was her last chance for a sprint win
I'm surprised Vos is still there, as she's left the race early before, but she's also usually had at least one stage win at this point of the race.

Great racing here. I thought DSM were stupid pulling a lot yesterday, but Labous is looking good today.

Ewers is losing the podium today.

And again no clear leader from UAE and FDJ. Two riders in the second group and don't know for which they should ride.

Dani Christmas has done a couple if races with canyon Sram - I am certain she was at the Vuelta.

There is a good chance that one of the next two stages in Sardinia will go to the break.

Labous will be building form for the Tour, she's a great climber. I reckon a top 5 for her there. Some good action today, Ewers hit the wall after working very hard on the penultimate climb to stay up there, and García paid for her efforts to get away unfortunately. Movistar's succession plan seems to be working although Patiño is actually higher up the GC than Lippert. Much as I've been absolutely adoring the way Liane has raced this year, she just is not consistent enough at the moment to be a viable leader, she's like a puncheuse Chava or something, looking like she can beat Vollering one day and then losing 10 minutes and being dropped by riders she's significantly above the level of the next. And that's probably why she hasn't won anything except the national road race since the pandemic, sadly. She does deserve to win something significant with the entertainment factor she's added. But then, they don't give victories for finishing in the most entertaining fashion, otherwise Kasia's palmarès would be a lot stronger than it is.

A shame the rest day wasn't today when there's a boring stage in store at the Tour tomorrow.

Lippert seems to be in good form though, and I think it's a shame she hasn't been given freedom in this race yet. Seeing Annemiek dominate is as boring as seeing SD Worx do the same in other races.

Does anyone know how step the final in the next stage is?
Could be a bunch sprint. Vos, Dygert and Persico probably favourites.

Before the last km there's about 1.5 km of 4.5%, and then the last 300 meters are aboud 2.5%, There are a few other small lumps inside the last 10 km, but since the penultimate climb isn't too difficult, it will probably end in a sprint. Even SD Worx might be interested in a sprint after they saw what Blanka Vas was capable of in Tour de Suisse.

Actually thinking back, this seems to be a long-running problem for Liane, remembering back to the 2019 Tour of Britain when she was leading with two stages to go and looking like the second best climber in the race, only to then blow up completely. I thought back then it was simply that she was more of a puncheuse than a grimpeuse and the 4-5km climb was just a bit out of range for her, but she showed at the 2020 Giro that that wasn't the case. However there are a few examples of her having great days alternated with bad ones and looking like a million bucks but not being able to do it day in day out meaning long stage races will always be a bit of a lottery for her. Similarly she has on a few occasions shown symptoms of Cadel Evans disease, not knowing when to let go and ride her own tempo, and instead going into the red chasing moves or hanging with the elites before blowing up and losing far more than she would have done otherwise.

Now, these were problems that many of the elites have faced at times in their career and although she's been around quite a while, Liane is still only 25, so she has plenty of time to rectify this; the first problem was a long-time issue for Elisa Longo Borghini, for example, who took until 2017's very disappointing route to have even a remotely commensurate Giro GC performance that was in line with her abilities. And Liane can sprint, which is helpful for her in maximising what she can do on the days she is at her best.

I hope she can turn it around and become a genuine and consistent threat, but until then I'm going to enjoy the ride because she's entertaining as all hell in her current incarnation, she's fully embraced the Movistar experience with hyper-aggression and questionable tactics.

Well we will see next year at the Grand Tours if she is capable of fighting for a win or a podium, because I assume she will be then the captain of Team Movistar.
