I think the main problem for teams like FDJ and UAE is, that they don't have a designated leader. When you look at teams like DSM, Movistar, SD Worx and Trek they always know for which rider they have to work.

for those of us who can't read Twitter, is she ok? Will she start tomorrow?
Sorry.

We can confirm that @ElisaLongoB has left the hospital, where she underwent an X-ray of pelvis and right shoulder, which ruled out the presence of fractures. She also underwent a brain scan, as she hit her head during the crash (though without damage to her helmet), which came back negative of any injuries. Elisa underwent also a neurological consultation, which ruled out further consequences. At the end, she suffered contusions and abrasions to the right side of her body. Given the concussion protocol required in such cases, she will remain under observation by the team doctor for the next few hours. Any decision regarding Her presence at tomorrow at #GiroDonne will be made in the morning.

FDJ got the talented Grace Brown from Jayco who seems to spend half her time riding 2.1 races.

Nice win for Niedermaier. I think this is the first year that she's 100% in on cycling. She's a former ski mountaineering athlete who did cycling on the side in the junior ranks (and still finished 3rd in the WJ ITT at the WC in 2021, while also winning the u20 ranking in the SkiMo world cup in the 21/22 Winter, one year earlier she won the vertical race at the SkiMo WC in the junior ranks). Seems to be a great TTer for a 52 kg lightweight.

I have the theory that nowadays more and more of the endurance sports talent from the Alpine areas goes into SkiMo (XC skiing is dying).

Now I obviously don't know what the plan has been for her this year, but I do know that Stéphen Delcourt was very eager to sign her, because he liked her riding style and believed she could inspire the rest of the team to ride more aggressively.

She will be riding the Tour, but we'll have to wait and see whether she gets a chance to ride for herself on any of the stages.

Can someone explain GB Junior Team Piemonte Pedale Castanese A.S.D?

I'm starting to think they have nothing to do with GB juniors...

Might they have to do with the GB chain that was involved in Italian cycling in the 90s? I believe it was a Belgian company though, which was bought out by Carrefour. You do sometimes see long-time sponsors of yesteryear reappear in women's cycling where budgets are lower, like Fassa Bortolo and Footon.

Finish line today is 2 km ealier because of some work at the finish.

As expected after her heavy crash yesterday ELB will not start today.
It probably wasn't an easy decision for her to make, but there was no reason to carry on if it could potentially compromise the rest of the season. It's a huge bummer for her and the race, but she can be proud of how she raced.

There's a bit more pressure on Realini now. It's not impossible for her to make the podium, but it won't be easy.

I don't think it will make too much of a difference. If someone wants to gain significant time, they'll have to attack on the the two other climbs anyway. But a small group finish is probably more likely now.

Žigart loses control of her bike for no apparent reason and takes down Niedermaier with her. You get no luck from winning stages anymore!

That's a lot of blood. Hope they can get her a good dentist. How on earth did Zigart manage that? poor road surface? Bidon?

It looked like she hit a pothole. Poor girls. At least Niedermaier did get a great win yesterday. Hopefully she can get patched up and back to racing soon.
