Sagan messed that up perfectly. If it was actual sprint which I doubt it was way too early and if he was supposed to lead out Bennet it was even worse than because he blocked his own sprinter

Can Sagan survive today's stage?

I'd say it's 50/50. The 3 km after the HTF should favor him.

I just saw on Twitter that since he won the first stage of the Tour de San Luis as an un-known track rider in 2015, Gaviria has every year won on his first race day of the year.

That's pretty impressive.

let's settle into "relatively unknown"
Track:
2 gold medals in junior championships
1. gold Omnium world cup
Plus several gold medals in continental and regional games

Road:
- Rode Tour de l'Avenir 2014 and finished second in the point classification
- A couple of gold and silver medals in regional games and continental championships (notably the Panamerican U23 road race where Colombia did 1 to 5 and only 10 riders finished within the time limit)

Yeah, that didn't make much sense. I just wanted to stress that he wasn't very well-known in wider circles (I certainly hadn't heard of him before) at the time.

There appears to be a major split in the peloton.
Impressive, considering the fact that the riders haven't even started yet.
