It's not like he can outsprint Alaphillipe on even terms...

Well if he would have tried to work with Alaphilippe and Benoot maybe they stay away and get time on the rest of the group AND those bonus seconds. You're right he can't outsprint Alaphilippe, however if he goes in the first place, either work or don't bother to go with him to begin with. Alaphilippe's response to Quintana's refusal to work was perfect. Just attack again. When he did, Quintana couldn't match him.

Then why even bother in the first place?

Do you mean "why even bother" going with the attack? Perhaps so as not to lose time?

So, he responds to the attack, just to let Alaphilippe ride 500 meters further... not to lose time. That's an interesting tactic. Wouldn't it have been, i don't know, more advisable, not to have given Alaphilippe a free pass, to, you know, actually take time? By riding with him and Benoot to the finishline? Hence taking time on everybody else (except his companions), and not lose time on Alaphilippe?

Which is my line of thinking. I think this goes back to Quintana not being good at making decisions and expecting other people to tell him what to do. (Like the great example of the 2016 Tour when Froome attacked at the top of the climb and Quintana was looking around expecting someone to tell him what he was supposed to do.) To me this is again a lack of leadership skills on his part.

Tomorrow is the ITT. Movistar put out the order in which their riders are going. Carapaz is the last rider for Movistar to go in the TT.

Yes, you’re right, dumb comment on my part now that I’m watching the replay.

Don't sweat it, my comment was more about him being stupid, than it was about you being stupid, haha... because at a fraction of a second, that was my thought as well, lol. He didn't want to let Alaphilippe take time... but then why the hell doesn't he just ride with him to the finishline? I mean, it just boggles my mind. Unless he wasn't able to follow on the flat section (apparently, Keisse told Evenepoel to be wary of the section after the climb, because gaps could occur there... maybe due to the wind?). Still, it really looked strange.

I finally saw the stage replay, yeah you're right.

I didn't realise that the initial attack Quintana followed was that far out. Working with Benoot and Alaphillipe would have made sense, it's not like he can't drop them on the mountain stage. Dude has no killer instinct at all anymore, maybe Unzue needs to start seating him next to Betancur at the dinner table so he learns how to fight to survive...

Looks like the blue eyed boy (Remco) gonna be spending more time on the front of the quickstep train the rest of this race. What a plonker Keisse is.

New season, new round of over-the-top Quintana bashing. It was Benoot who let the initial gap to open for Alaphilippe and Quintana actually tried to close it, but just didn't have the power to bridge back to Ala on flattish road. He even drove the chase behing Ala for some time, before sitting up . Benoot, who should be much better equipped to lead such a chase, was just sitting on Quintana's wheel - presumably just didn't have the legs to do more.

Alaphilippe just timed his attack perfectly - Quintana had just ended his turn at the front, while Benoot didn't have the legs to respond immediately.

Well someone needed to step up and fill Terpstra's shoes in that team.

Honestly pretty disappointed by that. Keisse always seemed like a cool guy.
You know cool-cool, not wannabe-cool.

Has Terpstra ever done something like this?

Is he trying to be the "cool uncle" for Evenepoel? Idiot.
I was thinking the same. A 36 year old man acting like a 16 year old boy to be cool in front of a 19 year old?

Is Keisse married? Does he have kids?

Reporting to the police is such a low act though. Imagine going down for that Christ, she should get an apology from him and move on.

This isn't surprising, at all, as MeToo was HUGE in Argentina. Although this may not fall under MeToo, it's in the same realm. Women will report men for less. Seek media attention for less. Ten years ago? Maybe not, but now plenty of women would do the exact same.

It would be best if the media stayed out of it until there was a ruling... but yeah.

I get tired of the same stupid bashing everytime I come to the forum. There is never a different scenario. To the bolded. I agree with you on that. But again, this is the first race for him. he is also trying to put some valuable miles as well. Maybe not trying to over kill it. Maybe if he didn't even try that would make people happier. So silly!

And as for Kaisse is concerned. I agree with RedheadDane. Why do it in the first place.

Not like this specifically, at least not that I remember. I meant it in a more general "being the team a-hole" kind of way.
