No idea what suddenly happened over the winter with UAE, but it seems like they've made strides in all aspects.
Not sure we can put this one down to a change at UAE. Bohli delivered some excellent TT results last year as well.

If the course is 12km then Bohli laid down a fantastic time around 50.8km/hr. Not sure how much wriggle room there is to beat that mark. 13:50 time would be over 52km/hr.

2017 race winner on 11.9 finished in 14:03.

Well, they did get both Neil Stephens and Allan Peiper as new DSs. And they have made some decent signings on the rider front as well.

Bohli has a great engine but I think the point is that UAE have made some shrewd signings and stepped things up. Stage winner and lead team at TDU, Gaviria yesterday and now Bohli.

Of course, but that was on his BMC wonder machine. Usually when those guys make a transfer, their results in time trials see a significant decline. Same is applied for riders who move away from say Movistar or Sky to say Bahrain. It appears UAE have done some good work other than just recruiting talent. They were up to par in TDU with Philipsen and Pogacar, and they are up to par here in San Juan.

I don't know about "some". His second place in the Romandie prologue was impressive but also pretty stand-alone.

Otherwise, he was third in the Swiss NC and the Utah prologue but those were hardly hotly contested.

Jeroen Swart of Froome "he just lost the fat" fame is the head of medical staff. Make Aru great again.

Cattaneo

I could see that coming since the van behind the rider in front of him almost could not turn from behind the barriers onto the road at the start
