The difference between a legendary champion and an ordinary rider in terms of ambition.

Could this be a prelude of the Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne stage?

Could be, but then AC will probably have Nibali for company

When Nibali attacks a descent : "Oh yes the best descender ever, GO GO LA SQUALO"

When Contador attacks a descent : "He is so stupid, he is going to crash"
People who are saying that he's being stupid are probably thinking, he crashed out of the Tour last year, they want to see him at the Tour because of the type of entertainment he brings to the table, and he's attacking on a descent to win a smallish .1 race. This reaction sure didn't happen when Contador, Sánchez and Evans were attacking on the descents into Gap and Pinerolo back in 2011.

I think the attitude is more to do with taking the risks in the Route du Sud rather than them being especially stupid risks to take.
