Actually no, Tony Martin rode in the rain whereas it was dry when Barredo started. Also, there were 45 minutes between them, so the wind could have changed a little by then too.

The wind did change in between their rides.
But Martin was rumoured to have ridden in the rain but in the highlights there was certainly no rain in sight when Martin was riding, so I doubt it.

There was no rain. Tony Martin rode in the dry, he even said so himself. *yawn*
Stop defending him, he was simply worse. Tony Martin is no prologue specialist. He can only win one of it's suited to him (long straights etc), but that's not the case here.

Congrats too Durbridge, it's an outstanding result.

Wiggins also went well and Grivko, Gerrans and Maertens did too.

To be fair, it wasn't exactly a bad call. Intxausti was in the top 10 until three days to go. He had a fever mid-race, but kept going because of his good GC position, thought he was over it but just didn't have any power in the legs on the Manghen.

It would have been Quintana's first GT, so lord knows if he would have had the recovery to have done any better than Intxausti did.

what does intxausti have to do with it? he didn't replace quintana and movistar sucked in gc.

It would be good if they take Quintana to the Vuelta, with all those MTFs, but only if Valverde fails.

I would have liked to have seen this today but yeah, steephll failed me.

I know Andy only lost about 30 seconds on 5km, but if you multiply that by 20you get the number of TT KM's in the tour and he'd lose over 10 minutes. Sure, he didn't go full stength on this and I'm sure he's going to be better come July, but all the attacks in the mountains aren't going to make that time up. I think he may be in trouble. I think even making up half that time at 5 minutes is going to be rough. That's also assuming he only loses time on TT's and not on other stages or due to any crashes.

Andy Schleck is 26 or 27, has won LBL in 2009 and the Tour in 2010, as was confirmed this week by giving him the yellow jersey officially. He might have earned good money from 2005.

He has reached everything he wanted to reach, and the maximum he can reach, a Giro/Vuelta/Amstel/Worlds/... win wouldn´t change that too much.

Now everything is just for fun for him, as he showed again in this prologue. What did Riis say about Ullrich in April 2006? "Ullrich seems to be unhappy to still be a pro rider", or s.th. like that. It´s the same for Andy now.

He is so gifted by nature, so he doesn´t have to adapt to the cold, the wet, the descents, the attacks, the time trials.

I guess he´ll do a few more years for pleasure and retire then.

Probably he hasn´t improved his time trial a lot in 2012, again... Van den Broeck, for example, has, and so did others, and Andy could have managed that, with Bruyneel and all these guys behind him. Just see how Rasmussen improved his time trial from 2005 to 2007. I guess Andy just didn´t have the motivation, the will to improve this.

The record books say Andy has won a tour but he hasn't experienced winning the tour. He hasn't cycled onto the Champs-Elysees in yellow, sipped the champagne and stood on the top step of the podium. Until he does his career won't be complete.

This is probably the most problematic theme regarding doping in cycle racing, and there is no solution to it. It`s about timing and feelings. Being a winner only in the aftermath is a harsh thing, But he is the winner.

The opinion of a rider matters in this case. Andy said he wants to win it on the road and not in court. Most problematic theme regarding doping in cycle racing solved.
