Quintana will never learn... what a boring rider, what a waste of talent. He could be almost a new pantani but he rides too cautious
For a rider of Quintana's calibre it'd almost be silly to not gift this win to a young, deserving teammate, for whom this victory will mean 10000x more than it would to Quintana.

Yet felt the need to steal that second place from Carthy. #noclass.
Good lord.

I expected more.
Can't see the benefit of riding as Movi has ridden today. Controlling the Route du Sud field in no sense is similar to controlling the TDF field.
I suppose Quintana wasn't in the mood today.

Are you serious?

Seriously, do all the complainers like to be gifted wins when in a competition? I would be somewhat offended. Soler's case is different because he's not competing with Quintana, and in fact would have to differ to him under normal circumstances.

There were other ways to do so, as well.

Kind of sad to outsprint McCarthy at the line there.

If I were Carthy, I'd be very happy that Nairo takes me seriously.

Not sure what that has to do with it?

The difference between getting 6 bonus seconds, while Hugh Carthy got 4, and getting 4 bonus seconds, while Hugh Carthy got 6.

And that would have changed what exactly?

Might not be much, but then we're back to it showing that he takes Carthy seriously.
Besides, how do we know Carthy's "***!" was aimed at Quintana, and not just at the fact that he got beaten.

Like I said, I don't know how outsprinting him for no particular reason shows that Nairo takes him seriously. More like the opposite. Not that it matters much, just weird he did that.

He's not in Movistar team so no reason not to take it either.

Quintana clearly learned from the great master Valverde and has that competitive spirit that always makes him sprint for the line

Respect the huge effort of a rider who tried but failed to catch your team mate, and because that team mate was in front, you were able to sit in the wheels. That's already one reason more than why to overtake him.

But whatever, it's no big deal.

quintana is in direct battle with carthy in GC, well its not that direct, but still the first non Movistar rider is carthy thats why taking seconds from him is beneficial...afterall you never know when you might need those 2 seconds (probably never but better safe than sorry)

I think that he probably took them for Soler. He knew Soler was going to be in podium position if he wins the stage and he probably made sure that Soler ended up in front of Carthy.

Terrific ride from Soler. In the breakaway, then buries himself for Nairo before attacking for the win. Really surprising as he seemed like he was on the edge and about to drop before Carthy went to the front. Speaking of that, Hugh had a great ride but he's got a lot to learn. What on earth was he thinking? That was a complete rookie move and he really cost himself a chance at the stage victory.

They just won the stage with their best young talent. This stage victory was a lot more important for Marc Soler than for Quintana. Why people are concentrating on Quintana here if he came to train not to blow to pieces the race on the last climb.

Imagine if Quintana had attacked on the last climb and taken minutes on the other riders. This forum would have been even worse with negative remarks about how he was taking advantage of these weak riders, etc.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Welcome to the fanworld.
