Also, Sud between Giro and Tour seemed like a bad idea last year and it still seems like a bad idea this year.

Why? Its in France, you can go to Pyrenees and reckon stages before/after and its an easy race to get back into the racing since the level is low. No matter what Contador had done, he would probably have looked the same after that Giro.

I can't really tell if you are being sarcastic

But riders bodies react differently. Maybe its good for some, bad for others, but Contador should've probably known. Maybe he wanted to mix it up from 2011. And when we are debating this, Valverde still isn't confirmed. I'd like to know where the poster head that

I think that after a Giro, you really need to recover, and be as rested as possible before the Tour. Training is necessary to keep your form high, but I think doing a 5 day stage race inbetween is just too much, and at the wrong point inbetween. I think the Nats are way better.
