I thought he was down to race this. He's still very short on race miles this season.

He probably was set to ride Giro + Route + Tour. But since he did Dauphine first then there is no way that they would send him to do those three races in line. That would be suicide if you ask me.

I thought I read somewhere that because of the lack of race miles due to sickness then injury, having to pull out of Giro and Dauphine being first race back, he would also now ride Route as well.

As has already been said though, he was probably stronger in Dauphine than expected so that's probably the reason for the plan change. As you say, all three together and so close is pretty desperate, but then he was pretty desperate at one point given his run of bad luck. Glad to see he appears to be back on track now. A strong Aru and Fuglsang will really add to the excitement at the Tour.

Dillier is 2nd in GC. Thomas/Henao are bringing it back for Ellisonde to win the overall who is in 3rd wheel. Moscon is just marking and not taking turns.

Carapaz and Loubet are still there though.

Edit: Ok well not Loubet anymore, just dropped!

Just dropped, but he did look strong. But the Tour is probably a risk as his first grand tour. Should get his chance in the Vuelta though.
