Yes 'decent' is the word, but will anyone, in a few years, remember all those second or third places? All that matters are wins, and Rabo need them fast. It's nice that they won Oman and de Omloop, but they really need a 'real' win. Just like Leopard for example.

OK, so two of my pics were of Menchov.

But Freire and Garate are still there. Gesink's Giro dell'Emilia and Suisse stage are pretty useful. Langeveld won Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, which is pretty big. Matthews won a TDU stage which is worth UCI points if nothing else, and their signing him was a bit of a coup. And Tjallingii's Roubaix podium is nothing to be sniffed at either.

You didn't specify, but yeah I should have assumed you meant while at Rabo. Still, he is a current rider and those are huge wins.

Why do they? Both teams are racing well. Leopold Trak doesn't have to do anything this year but place 2nd in the TdF. Rabo set their season objectives as Spanish National TT, San Sebastian, Paris-Tours, Top 10 in TdF, and a Lars Boom stage win at the Tour of California.

and BMC, and basically everyone except for saxo(nuyens), htc (goss) garmin(summie) and opl (gilbert)... because you know big wins last year don't count.

There sure are a lot of loser teams who will never win anything.

and forget the consistant results by both leoprad and rabo, they suck. spartacus you suck !

Why does the Gilbert crowd (Harmonn, Pisti now you) keep claiming Amstel is a monument just because Phil won it. If Amstel counts as a big race then so does GW for Boonen.

Yeah cycling is pretty unique in that everyone is a massive loser and loses much more than they ever win (not taking the ****).

you misinterupted.
i don't think it is a monument. If fleche or SS had occured I'd add that too.

I just don't rate GW that's all. And if he doesn't count omloop, then he doesn't count GW.

And the riders take this one pretty serious.
ps; amstel is a bigger race then gw. easy. gw is a joke. not that I think amstel is some amazing race, I don't. I rate both fleche above it too (i also prefer omloop, but whatever)

Gilbert sure showed 'em. Pretty boring race though.

Anyone seen Havetts? I've got a nice avatar for him. :D

Their have been times that Rabo has won, but those are really sporadic wins, and yes i mist acknowledge that those are big wins, but what about the current crop of riders that ride for the Rabobank team?

Freire and Gesink aren't current? Rabobank is one of the longest tenured teams in the pro ranks and i don't recall there being any recent issues regarding there being a possiblility that they would be pulling out so what do they have to worry about? They have one of if not the best development programs in the sport so they appear to be in it for the long haul. As a team they have never been a team that won huge amounts of races ala HTC. Their presence is always felt in most of the important races which is more that can be said for many teams. They'll be alright.:)

Rabobank have as their aim to bring riders from a relatively small talent pool (Holland) to the top level of the sport. The current generation of Dutch talent is slowly growing towards that level (the Gesinks, the Mollemas, the Booms), but the generation above them just wasn't very strong. Rabo know they have to be patient.

To be fair Canc was chasing for a lot more than 3km. He was asked to pull the whole thing all by himself for half the race. Not comparable to Gilber being at the front for 2 minutes.

I disagree completely. If Canc had ridden with his legs instead of his mouth, he could have closed that gap and sat in for a bit and still probably won. I think we can see from his final kick that he had the legs to win, and if he had just done what a champion like Gilbert does and ridden his competition down himself, Canc would have easily won last week. Instead, he whined like a little baby and took his ball and went home...and got 2nd. Gilbert rode like a man and got 1st. There is a lesson there.

Superb performance from OPL. Very sweat answer to the lack-of-support-for-Gilbert-criticism.

Funny what Gesink said before the race about trying to take advantage of Rabo's depth. First they make a great move by tearing the field apart, and then they suddenly stop riding, send LLS on a pointless solo attack and allow a lot of guys to return (Vanendert for example was like 30sec behind at the first passage on the Cauberg). Seriously, what's the point? They accomplished zero, except for wearing out their own team of course.

But whatever. The Belgians were great today. Ben Hermans confirmed his potential and my dark horse for this race Leukemans got a nice 7th. Impressive, especially when no one else of the big guys here rode both Flanders and Roubaix.
