He's lucky not to be Dutch, otherwise the Belgians would call him a "dikke nek" and an "arrogante Ollander". It's good to be confident, but I find this a bit laughable really.

Not me, I loved Boom's interviews back in his Cyclocross days. You only have a "dikke nek" if you fail to deliver.

I see what you are saying. However, one can be confident without being arrogant. What is out of our control though is how people perceive it.

Yeah, that's why I'm a fan of him as well. The way he speaks in interviews... He has something special, I guess we can call it charisma.

True, that would make it virtually impossible for him to win a decent one day race.

Seriously? Didn't take you for a troll. Anyway, you're lucky this is a cycling-only forum if you're gonna throw stuff like that out.

Apparently some stuff is going on

"Hoewel de wedstrijd nog helemaal moet losbarsten, zijn de beklimmingen er voor sommige renners toch al te veel aan. Voor hen ligt het tempo nu al te hoog."

Hopefully it will be a good and very difficult race :)

Of course the "number one favorite" for this race has never won a 1-day race in his life.

who should be the number 1 favourite for this then?

Was asking myself the same question. With Gilbert not having the form he had last year I thought it would be up for grabs with no clear favorite. Though I will never write off Gilbert on the count of it's Gilbert. :p

okay, great, that rules out Sagan as well...

so it's Freire vs. van Avermaet?

Edit: okay, sorry, Sagan won the GP Industria & Commercio di Prato last year. So he's back in again?

Had a cold this morning apparently. Could be a precaution for AGR.

he crashed in first stage of Pais Vasco and did quite poor for the rest of the race - so that might be a reason additionally to this
