Roglic only 69 seconds down..
He can still win the GC
No way

He did beat Valverde by more than two minutes in last years Giro. That was 40k though

The one where torrential rain started after Roglic finished?

Mad finish. And mad props to Valverde. Old Man River can still wind his way down those valleys.

It should be between Bala and Berto, unless Uran has really rediscovered some of that 2014 form. Izaguirre might be an interesting dark horse, though.

I'm figuring GC will end with Contie, Bala, Ion in that order. Assuming nothing untoward happens, that is.

2016: Contador finished on the podium of 3 stage races, then won Pais Vasco in the final TT

2017: Contador finished on the podium of 3 stages races....

What a disappointing route. And a very disappointing stage today as well. Hopefully Contador wins the race tomorrow.
Also great win by Rogla yesterday but a very bad performance by him today. Also very surprised to see Henao dropped.
Also Samu's crash was terrible, he could have won the stage without the crash

Really feel for Samu ...39 years old and really wanted this...worked hard for it. Paced himself up the climbs and descended like a madman ..(great descender) but rode his luck

Pity pity
Same here :(

Valverde was the strongest on the climb and the strongest in the finale. I wonder how long this form lasts....

At least another decade is my guess!

If there's one thing I've learned from this race, it is that the 3K rules is a lot more complicated than I thought.

I suspect that the reason why I have never heard of the 3 km on a stage like this is the potential for gaming the system. If either Woods or Meintjes had decided that GC is more important to him than the stage, he could have created a mechanical incident by shipping his chain with a bad gear change, then taken it as easy as he likes while leaving his erstwhile breakaway companion, with whom he comprised a group at the 3 km marker, to earn a time equal to the stage winner for him at the line.

I think it's Contador vs. Valverde.
I wouldn't bet against Ion Izagirre. He only needs to gain 15 seconds and he is often a beast in those TTs in one-week races.

I thought Yates after his team riding on the front all day was disappointing
So was Kwaito and Ulissi

Roglic at least must have been tired from yesterday ....plus he is not the climber everyone thinks he is

Roglic is a diesel climber. A 10 kilometer mountain at 5% is perfect for him. He is not made for these, shorter, brutal, steep climbs.

The descent isn't very technical and right now, I'm actually relieved it isn't :p

Yates yes. Kwiato perhaps as well but he is more focused on classics so he is just here to gain form back before the Ardennes after resting after MSR so I am not surprisedby his bad result. Ulissi wasn't the team leader (Izagirre was) so not surprised as well.
