I'll top that by saying I will carry around an I love Wiggins signature if that happens.

Meh a signature. Thats nothing. Ill go 1 step further.

If Wiggins wins PN, ill promise to stop mocking Richie Portes gt chances.

Speaking of which, why isnt "the future of cycling" being named as a favourite here. Seems out of step with the usual, "Porte will win everything" brigade.

Warning: Promises might, and probably will be broken

I suppose I could have missed it but I just haven't noticed where anybody has called Porte the future of cycling or said that he will win everything. He certainly hasn't been hyped as much as many others around here.

I agree. I've noticed more anti hype then hype.
I find the general consensus here is that, although talented, his giro high place is misleading. I know I have belittled his performance there I'n the past. But he did ride well for a debut gt (irregardless of his age) none the less. I understand the Aussies being excited by him.

But yeah other then a few Aussie posters, the hype has been reasonable IMO.

Kreuziger 09/10 hype.... That was unbearable

It is people like Tomalaris and McKenzie who over hype Porte and make it like he is world cycling's next big thing!

And yet you have four posts talking down his chances for every post which suggests he will actually win something.

If anything he is hyped by himself and a select few in the media - not on this forum.

He's certainly hyped by (Anglophone) media, that much is true. Which isn't Porte's fault, there isn't really a world cycling news site in English, one that doesn't necessarily focus on Anglophone riders.

As for Paris-Nice, Porte is a great time trialist who can climb more than adequately, which seems to be the profile required to do well at this year's edition. So it's not that crazy to name him as a favourite.

Well i was trying to kill several birds with one stone. 1 Tag on to the “Wiggins will not win” train. 2 Bash Richie Porte a little bit (why not) , and 3 subtily point out that with a 27k tt he has a chance. Having said that, I think he will lose enough time on the steep climbs to eliminate him from the running.

And there are some on here who build up Porte as TDF rider, is great because Sassi said so etc. But yes you are right, its not so much. Thanks for reminding me that Im getting distracted from the real dangers on these forums. Sagan and Gesink fanboyism.

Gesink fanboyism.

I havent really seen much Gesink fanboyism for the time I've been registered here really :). Only one poll that was when both AS and AC weren't at the tour, where 'only 25 people :D' voted Gesink.

Or did I miss something here.

Signed,

Gesink fanboy ;).

There is a difference between replying to a thread regarding a particular rider, and 'fanboyism'. Defending a rider with facts and reason is not my definition of fanboy anyway.

Fanboy is a term for people to belittle the opinion of somebody (that's not saying there are some fanboys, there are forsure) rather then ousting them with solid posts.

Anywho I think gesink will own pn and obviously is a shoe In For the tour-vuelta double. Yeah boy :p

Hitch is just trying to provoke the Dutch mafia. And lo and behold! It worked ;)

Now I'm just waiting for the Slovak mafia to react... there was this guy who had interesting pictures of Sagan at a private party, wearing a "suck my ****" shirt or something like that. Where is he?

Those T-shirts were actually quite popular for a while in Europe, it was always spelled 5UCK MY D1CK. I assume a lot of people (maybe including Sagan) didn't really know what it meant, and of course it was mostly worn by 15-20 year old guys (so Sagan). I haven't seen them in a while though ... which is a good thing lol.

Anyways has Kreuziger been in a race yet this season? I'm looking forward to seeing him in the Astana kit

Team Sky squad:
Simon Gerrans
Greg Henderson
Geraint Thomas
Bradley Wiggins
Jeremy Hunt
Michael Rogers
Rigoberto Urán
Xabier Zandio

Got to say, that looks very strong.

I don't understand why they would bring Rogers, Wiggins and Geraint Thomas to P-N, when the T-A squad certainly would want atleast one of them for the TTT, considering that EBH could be a possible overall candidate there but only with a great TTT team which they for some reason is sending to P-N.

T-A squad is:
Kurt-Asle Arvesen
Michael Barry
Mathew Hayman
Thomas Löfkvist
Juan Antonio Flecha
Edvald Boasson Hagen
Ian Stannard
Chris Sutton

Strong squad but aimed at getting form for the classics guys. Even without Wiggins, Rogers and Thomas, they'll still go well in the TTT with the likes of Arveson, Barry, Hayman,Lofkvist and EBH. A team with the best TT'ers in the world doesn't neccessarily make the best TTT squad.

Contador not going to P-N seems quite suspicious to me... maybe ASO or UCI telling him to avoid "HIS" races until resolve his "problem"? I dont know... or Porte called first his leadership for P-N? who knows... but is an interesting question tho...
