Contador not going to P-N seems quite suspicious to me... maybe ASO or UCI telling him to avoid "HIS" races until resolve his "problem"? I dont know... or Porte called first his leadership for P-N? who knows... but is an interesting question tho...

he prolly is saving himself on the early season. with the giro-tour double in mind. after all some claim that the reason why he was so bad at last year's tour was because he overcooked himself riding too much and too hard during the season.

just sayin ...

Wiggins and Thomas will be coming off the track Worlds when they go to Paris-Nice so they will probably not be in great form for the road.

Ohh, and please have a close look at the winners of the last decade!

Yes, the winner's list shows the sad state of the sport. Probably not one past winner without any confession, positive test or strong doubts when one connects the dots... But let's not make a clinic thread out of it... sorry

And they wouldn't have reshaped their bodies for their 1 week track holiday - I really doubt it will have much effect on their form for the road, it's just a week of active recovery and high power work rather than long and slow, bit of variety will probably do them good.

Getting conflicting stories on this now.

Thomas, Swift and Kennaugh are all down to ride the tour of sardinia together for team gb prior to the worlds. Wiggins is a 99% not going, Thomas seems confused, he may be going.

Thomas isn't going, he's doing Sardinia to get road miles in, Paris nice is a big objective for him (so I read somewhere on Saturday)

This was my understanding, but sky now saying thomas going to the worlds. One things for sure, Wiggins isnt. I think its unlikely that Geraint is going regardless of what Sky (road) team say.

(Kennaugh needs the miles, his season doesnt kick off till the 3 days of de panne - but his season is built with the vuelta and late season form in mind)

Sky the team themselves or sky sports news?

Wouldn't make much sense. As mentioned in sky gt thread surprised no Cummings in april

I watched the BBC interview with them after they won the team pursuit at Manchester and I could have sworn Wiggo mentioned track worlds, let me go check.

Well I guess I was wrong. The BBC video has a caption underneath it which reads "Great Britain's men's pursuit team record the fifth fastest time in the event's history to take gold at the Track World Cup event in Manchester, and are targeting the world record at the world championships next month." However in the actual video the presenter asks Wiggins if he is tempted to stick around on the track and ride Worlds, to which he replied that he had to 'get back to his day job'.

Also He already told to the press that the team (Riis) want him to go slowly and dont push himself to hard early in the season, He clearly dont like that but He'll give it a try... my point is that He is P-N champion... OFC He dont have to prove anything there but having other P-N in his palmares would be great... but who knows...

In the past, he's gone hard at races early in the season, then taken a ten day vacation to recover before building for the Tour. This year Riis wants him to start slower and build up straight to the Giro. Trying to win Paris-Nice and the Giro, then go for another grand tour is a huge ask.

After the beating he took in the press for six months, I don't think it's coincidence that the rest of his scheduled races before the Giro are all in Spain. One of his friends apparently told El Pais that Alberto is suffering from Chronic Psychological Fatigue.

Noval was supposed to ride Paris-Nice, but Alberto has asked him to do all his races, so he, Navarro and Hernandez will join other teammates for the next ten days in Mallorca, then ride Vuelta a Murcia, etc.

mmmmmmmmmm ya... I feel rly bad to hear that He has Chronic Psychological Fatigue... that's not cool :(... but the good news is that he is again on the bike and enjoying it as much as possible... also getting results like Top 5 in Volta ao Algarve...

Hope He gets better soon... He needs to be stress-free to give his best! but this year will be hard a year indeed :(

Should be a good race! Be interesting to see who is in good form, will sky try to perform in a non grand tour as promised this year, plus riders with big hopes this year like krueziger, velits, porte, van garderen.
