Astana must be really confident in their ability to win today's stage or at least get a leaders jersey because they are spending a lot of energy getting this break back. Haven't seen anyone else take a turn during this climb so far.

Yeah, and in those slow uphill finishes its more strength and grit you need to win it.

You also had to be postioned 1st or 2nd into that last corner before the finish I reckon.

Impressive by GVA. Grinded Trentin to a slow death. Not a chance for Trentin to even try to get around. Position was very important, Valverde was stuck behind Swift who lost the wheels of the front three.

Higuita 6th once more. That move to Euskadi really paying off.

If Swift hadn't screwed up and impeded Valverde, the podium of today's stage would in all likelihood have consisted of the reigning Olympic, World and European champions!

Not too shabby for a February race.
