Great win by AY - good timing to make his escape knowing Bala would be breathing down his neck

What made Yates win more impressive today was that he was at the front almost the entire time during the last part of the climb. Didn't hide and still won.

Very true. He should have been AV's most marked man, but as you say still got away. That will be a huge confidence boost for him

I am not sure what is more impressive, the fact that Adam Yates won despite leading for the last 1½ k or the fact that he actually lead other riders for 1½ k

It was just a disappointing ITT by A.Yates - Anyway the early season stage races feature long ITT's, so for the cohort of MS GC riders, it will be a matter of riding well and sneaking a stage victory - Surprisingly Simon has shown little in one day races, with Adam showing a bit more, while Chaves has shown good form in one day races - The more likely rider for LBL is Haig but probably another two or 3 years away - Fleche Wallone should be a chance for the MS climbers if given a chance by team management.

Sunday 10 February 2019 - The 5th stage of the Tour of Valencia starts in Paterna and runs to a likely sprint finish in Valencia.

The last two editions of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana also concluded with a race from Paterna to Valencia. A technical and wet finish in the city centre took the sprint trains out of the equation in 2018 before Jürgen Roelandts outgunned Danny van Poppel on the line. Two years ago Bryan Coquard took the flowers, while Stijn van den Bergh stayed ahead of the chasing pack in 2016’s finale.

Since the race returned to the UCI calendar in 2016, the Tour of Valencia always finished in the provincial capital.

The last stage of the Tour of Valencia starts at 14:00 and the finish is expected around 15:55 – both local times.

A pretty flat ol' profile -

Weather - dry about 20C - should be a straight forward sprint finish.
