Right, here we go, pelotão compacto!

Chuzhda is toast, unsurprisingly.

Couple of big attacks there - a CarmioOro guy and Sergio Sousa (Madeinox). They haven't identified the CMO guy but if it were Pardilla or Sella everybody would have followed, surely?

Ah yes, it's Andrea Tonti. Sousa and Marco Marzano dropping Tonti now. Palmeiras still control the péloton and stay calm.

Marzano now attacks, things are splintering at the front here. ISD are in charge of the péloton now.

Marzano now the sole escapee. Last kilometre!!! The péloton have him in sight, it's breaking up out there...

Sérgio Ribeiro (Barbot-Siper) wins the stage with a great late attack!

Everybody considering Emanuele Sella a factor should probably, well, not do so - he finished 4'24" down today.

Yeah also Kashechkin cracked big time in the middle of the climb :(

I wouldn't be too worried about Kash. Lampre never send people to Portugal in big form. Generally they use it as a Vuelta preparation event; Cunego dropped 1'25" (though ahead of the second group with most of the favourites) on Sra da Graça and 1'47" on Torre last year, before DNSing the ITT from about 12th overall. He then went on to win two MTFs at the Vuelta. Tiralongo was 12th overall in the Volta, dropping 2'36" on Sra da Graça and Torre (same time both times!), though he was 4th on the stage to Monte Assunção, where they finished yesterday. He then went on to come 7th at the Vuelta.

Sella now has an unthreatening GC position, so it's quite likely he'll look for a stage win or help Pardilla, since Pardilla won't get to race his home Tour, this is close to it, and he's 5th overall AND a better time triallist than Lele.

Lele is in the break today!!!

The break consists of Hélder Oliveira (Barbot-Siper), Dmitro Grabovskyy (ISD-NERI), Emanuele Sella (CarmioOro-NGC), José de Segovia (Xacobeo-Galicia), Juan José Estrada (Andalucía-CajaSur) and Sergiy Grechyn (Amore e Vita-Conad). Pelotão a 6'24". So far Grabovskyy has been hoovering up the GPMs, but Sella has scored a point at both.

Hélder Oliveira (Barbot-Siper) won the sprint at the top of the 2nd-category Extremo, and will take over the camisola verde. Barbot now have the points and mountains jerseys, though Ribeiro will have to defend his in the stage-finishing sprint. He has 10 points over Chuzhda and 13 points over Cândido.

Crazy finish, photo finish between Caspar and Cândido. Big crash, a CarmioOro, a Bbox, a Loulé, a Rabo and somebody else I couldn't quite see. Looked pretty nasty.
