He finished 46th, and he was in he first peloton. Just didn't contest the sprint for some reason. He was pretty close to the front with 1 km to go if I'm not mistaken.

Road seemed quite slippery, maybe had to stop pedalling for a bit at some point.

I see it as the downside for taking the barrier side lane. Sagan took the open right side and came through and boxed Bevin in knowing he had the whole right side of the road to unleash his sprint. Great positioning.

At first it looked like Sagan was closer to him both when he passed Bevin and when he closed him at barriers, but there was not any wrongdoing.

Also, Colbrelli probably tired of finishing 2nd to Sagan by this point in his career. I still don't think Colbrelli has a WT win and at least 3 runner-ups to Sagan.

Well, he's already running two days behind, so it's looking good!

I didn't expect him to win here, obviously. But he's pretty far back, considering his pedigree and skillset. He's a punchy rider, a great TT'er and a good climber. I expected him in the top 40 for sure.

It seems you were right yesterday, he got dropped on the climbs today, so he doesn't appear to be feeling too well.

Arensman digging deep today, might cost him in a few days.
Hirschi not a real climber (can't see him survive T-2000).
Tiberi, for him it's probably a bit too soon.
Skjelmose Jensen... great at UAE, but i don't see him as a true climber either.
Haaninen is probably one of the worst TT'ers in the peloton. Don't figure him as a GC guy either.
Covi, i'm still trying to figure out this guy.
Leemreize bad TT'er and not (yet) at the same level of the best guys here.

It's looking likely the two to fight for the Youth Jersey will be Champoussin and Van Wilder.
All the other guys i didn't mention, either aren't climbers or already lost over 3 minutes in GC.

Covi is an all-arounder. He's quite punchy, can climb, big engine. He lost most of the spring because of issues with his Achille's tendon. I don't think he's at his best yet so he will likely lose time in the hardest stages.

Arensman has been in a lot of breaks this year. I thought he would test himself for GC here since the route and the field looked favorable. Perhaps Van Wilder was always supposed to be the leader for this race? Hard to figure out DSM plans.

I mean, Covi doesn't seem like a real GC rider... but he did finish top 10 in baby Giro, twice.
Arensman has been going in breaks a lot in the Vuelta, i think maybe he likes it more than the more boring GC riding?

yeah, Hirschi himself also said it would be about stage wins only for him and Ulissi, Costa to go for GC.

Not that I'm sure he'd (still) survive that climb either, though

Apparently you are correct and it was planned, he and the team want to see how far he can go on the gc in this race and in the Tour de Suisse (that one has a really hard route, I doubt many Tourr contenders will show up, maybe some of their climbing superdomestiques).
