What a fail by Quick Step...
Also Sagan failed really hard :D
Sagan didn't fail, he can't be the only rider to close every gap when people attack. That's what teams have been used to and he obviously has had enough of that nonsense.

Bingo. They have to realize he won't always drag them home. That would also force teams in the situation QS was in to try and make something of it rather than wait and wait.
It looked to me like Sagan tried to make Terpstra work when he didn't do it he attacked himself, trying to leave Terpstra in the dust and trying to catch the duo. But he failed.
That was after the fact though, but in that sense yes Sagan failed to shed the two anchors he's riding with.

Sagan teaching the whole peloton a lesson thay will pay him back massively long-term... maybe already in De Ronde

What is GVA doing? He should be more afraid of Jens in a sprint than Sagan.
He probably thinks he can win the sprint whether it comes back together or not - as long as he makes Sagan and Keukeleire work really hard. He can still put out a good sprint after hard efforts - the other two perhaps not so much. So the harder the race the better for him I guess.

QS have been saved by Gilbert in the cobbled season. Without him it is business as usual.
Gilbert = by far the best cobbled rider for QS this year.

Amazing times we live in.

Why didn't Quick-Step play the bunch sprint card?

They had the numbers!!!

They are always playing the "I can't work because I have somebody at the front or at the back"

LOL.

Or, the other way round, in a similar situation in RVV it's more of a gamble to bluff. And maybe he decides that he has to close down every gap himself.

The Danish commentator on Eurosport is clueless: "It looks like Van Avermaet is crushing his young opponent. Also mentally."

These two by far the best riders in the race - both tactically and in terms of strength. Whoever wins, it will be fully deserved.
