Waited for Terpstra to close down a move which he could easily have bridged to. Then tried to drop him to join the front two with a huge solo attack; only to fall spectacularly short and be forced to then work with Terpstra - with his tail firmly between his legs.

Sagan didn't fail, he can't be the only rider to close every gap when people attack. That's what teams have been used to and he obviously has had enough of that nonsense.

I think he'll carry on. Has a reasonable chance 1v1 in a sprint against GVA. Especially if he can hold his nerve and out-bluff him in the last km.

Bingo. They have to realize he won't always drag them home. That would also force teams in the situation QS was in to try and make something of it rather than wait and wait.

It looked to me like Sagan tried to make Terpstra work when he didn't do it he attacked himself, trying to leave Terpstra in the dust and trying to catch the duo. But he failed.
