Boom! Awesome. It's my birthday tomorrow so a Sagan victory is a nice gift to rewatch...several times . Maybe I'll pull up his 2020 Giro victory as well.

Don’t disagree with that, depending on one’s risk tolerance, but “easily” top 5 is what I’m questioning.
I just meant that I hadn't considered Thomas and that if he's not as washed up as crashing every 5 minutes makes him seem he's got a shot at a good spot.

I have never seen him climb at the level of the Slovenians or more recently Vingegaard though.

The last time he didn't crash significantly at a grand tour was TDF 2018 (he won) and the last time he didn't crash out of a grand tour was TDF 2019 (came 2nd). I would actually still rate him as high as 4th favourite for the TDF. His results in one week stage races these past couple of years when in form are nearly as good as A.Yates, Porte, Roglic etc.

Issue with Thomas will be that Ineos will just go with who's strongest so he could easily end up working for Martinez or Yates after one bad day. He probably has an advantage over those two in the Danish stages and the cobbled stage but could easily lose time to them on Planche des belle Filles

From what i saw on the live stream, it was Asgreen who just went down with no clear cause. You could see it on the helicopter shot, center of the bunch, bottom of the screen, just as they switched to moto camera at 4.5k from the finish.

Van Wilder didn't hit the ground, but he fell on the backwheel of a rider (and the rider) in front of him and has burn marks on his belly.

Looking at the footage again:
A rider from UAE moved right to left right in front of Asgreen and clipped his wheel, making Asgreen crash.
