Congrats to Impey! :) He‘s still strong, not even Theo Bos could prevent him from winning races as late as 2022… ;)

Four stages, won by Williams, Leknessund, Sagan and Impey. I could not have imagined any of these four would be able to win a stage there in TdS.

On the other hand, these stage profiles allow these riders to win, if they have the legs and the luck. From Friday on, however, there probably won‘t be any surprise winners, any more…

He went 3 whole stages without attacking.
Seems smart to me. Plenty of time to attack in the two mountain stages if he can. But even then, all he actually has to do is stick with everyone except maybe Küng. He might want to gain some time on him to be safe for the TT. Race situations dictate tactics. Given his lack of experience in the high mountains, it's smart to keep it under control until then.

Doesn't make for the best racing, but I think he's focused on his performance in the high mountains this week.

VdP would've lit up that final climb (and probably get caught by EF's driving). We just need him to participate in every race to make sure there's entertainment.

I think we'll have to get used to him riding this way once he gets the hang of this Grand Tour thing. Which is why I almost hope it won't work out, lol.

Tomorrow has to be the dummest stage to try something. The day before the first MTF is really the day you want to pick out to go balls to the wall.
Yeah, but tomorrow is probably the road stage with the best terrain for him to attack.
That said, I agree that the MTF one day late will probably make everyone ride this on more conservative.

Surprise winners, but also to me all feel good winners.
