Which only makes sense. It shouldn't surprise anyone that a climber profits more from a hilly TT than a rider who is great on a flat TT too. I don't think Evenepoel is necessarily "worse" at this kind of effort, but he has less of an advantage over other gc riders.

the 1st 17km Evenepoel will be able to take time on Skjelmose and Ayuso. but the last 8.7km I see Evenepoel losing time. 1.6km 8.2% and then another km 3-4% with then 4km of descent.

You think suddenly Evenepoel can't do hilly climbs anymore during a TT? This is a completely different matter as in a normal stage, where riders get to save energy behind other riders. Now Skjelmose and Ayuso also have to go balls out from the start, so they might very well lose additional time on the climbs.

What a fight to the end! The TT and GC were clearly decided on the second section (which included a climb). Both Ayuso and Skjelmose performed very well there: the former got a stage win but lost the race to the latter. Congrats to both of them. Remco was more aero on flat but lacked some watts uphill.
