I'm not so sure a month ago he was saying http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/19956995

I can't open that on my device but from memory he was asked - he did not offer himself. It does say in the piece that he does not see himself as a "politician". He likes the idea of he long lazy dinners and mundane chat but there are other ways to get that without the BS of the UCI.

David says lots of things, often he backtracks or corrects.
Which is a more obvious reason for why he has left twitter.

Some people (I'm assuming in this case not Millar) have very ostentatious twitter 'retirements'.
Obviously this is a different context, but Millar does ostentatious like Boris Johnson. And he is a fop to boot.

I despise Millar, I think he's an unbelievable hypocrite. His book or his views aren't credible in many cases, but I did find out that one reason names weren't mentioned (two in particular) was down to them finding out they would be named, and threatening libel.....Two names which were central to him doping and getting supplied.

I agree, Millar wants to sit on the Jedi council but hopefully by the time he gets a chair the Jedi's will be extinct and he'll be in a empty office with no chairs.

I know who but I am not saying...they aren't very well known though. Not a Ferrari or Cecchini for example.

Are you talking about 'L'Equiper' and team 'director' who are referred to but not named or two other's who are not mentioned at all. If is the former two, I think most people know who 'L'equiper' is and the team director is one of 2-3 people.

It is not highly secretive for anyone who has followed the Millar story.

Is this in his book?

I'm struggling to read it - after the whole "In Hong Kong we were treated like royalty because we were white" page. Should have read it before the reality of Tyler or Kimmage's books - even Whittle's Bad Blood was less self-aggrandizing.

Do it – if you want to learn about the cognitive dissonance Millar is.

There isn’t any serious whistleblowing in the pages and you see only names, which are publicly connected with doping anyway, so that Millar hasn’t to fear anybody’s legal defense.

The only benefit, the book delivers is to know afterwards, how Millar is thinking – and that not even directly and in the way he wants to be seen, but between the lines, by the way, he don’t tell things and avoid certain statements.

So, the gaps and question marks tell more about him than hundreds of pages of whining and complaining and regretting.

You are correct. It's not a big secret and many people would know. I just ain't saying it myself is all........

I have stated my dislike and distrust of Millar earlier in this thread but i cant help agreeing with your reasoning Digger. Millar is the worst kind of hypocrite.Once you have been rumbled its better to go quietly, compete by all means(everyone deserves a second chance as Davie would say) but shun the limelight happy with your resurrection instead of becoming a f**king know it all,i am god i am the answer i am the evangelist sort of self-serving pr**k.

Millar for UCI President?

If that happens we'll all be begging for McQuaid to come back.Trust me.

The identity of L'Equipier isn't remotely secret. Long before the book came out, Lelli was widely discussed (by Millar and others) at the Cofidis hearings in about 2005/6 (I don't know the date off hand). It's a matter of public record.

Just been listening to Millar and his BS about sport cleaned up 5 years ago and has changed!

http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/5live/5lspecials/5lspecials_20130115-1716a.mp3

Wow what an a$$hole.

Did not call for McQuaid to stand down, called for him to distance himself from Verbrugghen. Joke.

Millar, JV and Sky are trying so hard to pull the wool over our eyes!

Putting 1+1 together, the ONLY reason I can see that the sport cleaned up 5 years ago and the ONLY reason that everyone claims to have stopped doping in 2006 is because of the Operacion Puerto bust.

This kind of statement is a mea culpa for being a Fuentes customer.

If Tyler used Fuentes, then why not all of the other ex-Posties, for example?

Now, as soon as the next blood extraction and storage facility was set up, I am certain that most ran to get the start-up discount.

Dave.

Puerto was a part of it. As was Landis. What followed was what really forced change, the Rasmussen thing and all the others. The German sponsors in particular withdrawing was what pushed the teams to press for the passport and agree a sort of ceasefire.
