1) Alberto can't even ride the Olympics because he's still banned.
2) I have expressed several times that I can't see Alberto winning WC and/or Lombardia.

youre too late, I already edited the Olympic part

Just listen to Andy here from his press conference from the cyclingweekly twiter. David Harmon on Eurosport also read it out.

cyclingweekly "...if it's Wiggins, or my brother Frank who wins the Tour, they're lucky because I'm not standing there."

All the updates from the press conference are here:

Thanks.

Lol "Andy Schleck: "I can promise you one thing - I'm 27. I have a lot of years in front of me. I believe after this I will come back stronger." "

Drama queen.

If Schleck is serious he has just earnt a lot of respect.

If both him and The Great One are willing to continue the rivalry through a wc and a monument it could be the best end of season ever

Olympics: Impossible to win
Vuelta: Impossible to win
WC: Impossible to win
Lombardy: Impossible to win

Vuelta- if contador crashes is very probable. wc is possible and lombardy if schleck is serious i would call him the favorite

Exactly.

If Andy went and targetted other races I would be more than happy to give him fullsome praise. You see Wiggins with his treble of wins this season and Andy as a more talented rider should be building a palmares of similiar note. If he does'nt change his attitude I fear we could be saying at the end of his career all about his wasted talent and what ifs? Shame.

Agree, it would be great if he could step up a notch. But how is Andy the more talented rider? He has a a lot of flair, but that not the same as the actual ability to compete on a bike where and whenever you want. I don't think it's out of luxury he needs much races and training to gain form and have outrageous 'peaks' like he has. I'm not sure if he's able to target different races throughout the season (both mentally and physically) and still pull one of those super peaks out of his sleeve as well..

No. Andy won't race any of those races seriously. Like airstream said, those races aren't good enough for him. Or so Andy thinks.

If he somehow happens to race Vuelta, WC, Lombardy for the win he has a big chance to win all three.

Olympics will be more about being there, i guess. Can't compete for a medal for sure.

Couriouser and curiouser. Surely this injury is too serious for him to compete in the Olympics?

Cracking sense of humour, that lad.

I don't understand that quote. Does he mean they would be lucky to win, because they would have just won it because of him being not there and crush them????

I just don't see him having mental capacity of staying strong for 3 weeks of vuelta. Stage win in the best he'll do, imho.

I'd respect Schleck some more if he did a decent Vuelta, but he might as well test positive for a freaking load of alcohol

Geez I really can't stand him. Will we see a competitive Andy Schleck at the Vuelta, no chance. I only pray we do so we can watch he get savaged by AC although they probably wouldn't ever happen as he would quit before AC can really put him to the sword.

Waking up to find this is not fun at all!

Hopefully he is healthy and gives Contador a serious run at la Vuelta. If, IF, he is motivated and able to recover and train for it, I could see him doing quite well, as there is only one time trial. No, probably not going to beat Contador, but at least he'll make it more than a one-man show.

If Schleck races the Vuelta seriously and goes toe to toe with bertie, and seriously attempt Lombardy he would definitely earn some respect from me.
As other posters have said, hope he will realize his folly of attempting to win just one race and disregarding other races which could fetch some World Tour points and enhance his Palmares.
Imagine if Andy rode for a crap team which was desperate for World Tour points:eek:

I feel sorry for you jobiwan. Maybe you should not watch the Tour because it will be too painful. Watch the Vuelta where you'll see your hero perform.

I will not watch but I hope Samuel wins. But I don't think he can after his crash.

Also. Jesus isn't going to ride the Tour.

It would be nice to see Andy ride Vuelta, Lombardy, Worlds and Olympics to win like he says, hard to see that coming true but I will believe. Frank and Fuglsang should split leadership at the TDF and then Andy and Horner at the Vuelta.
