sweet! off to try it! merci.L'arriviste said:It should work. Here's how I see this page with AdBlockPlus on Windows:

off to see if i can tweak it by specifically saying to block ads from this site.
nope... still there. any suggestions?
yeah, i have Firefox for those few times when Safari won't work properly (getting plane tickets and the like), but i don't like having both running at the same time.mewmewmew13 said:Thirteen you can just download another browser and switch to that for looking at the cn site. You can choose between....
try firefox...w/adblock

ah well, no biggie for now. hopefully they'll do away with the adverts and/or move them to the bottom and make them cycling-related... it just isn't worth it to me at the moment.
Adblock for Safari took out the top banner and the side panel for me... in other words the ads that didn't bother me but the ones that did were still in the thread. I went into the Adblock preferences and there was a slider you can drag until the in-thread ads disappear. Now I see a blank white space instead of Kardashian's knockers and a fat guy with a beer bottle on his belly. So it's a mixed trade-off.thirteen said:Adblock for Safari didn't work

I browse these forums at work sometimes and I really don't appreciate having tits all over my screen unexpectedly. Turn that **** off.

icebreaker said:Yes, it works on the machine. I cannot figure out how to block ads in Safari on the iPad which is what has lead me to installing Opera.
Really p's me off having to have a separate browser on the iPad just so I can read cn.
It depends whether you are running a browser with AdBlock installed or not. I installed AdBlock Plus for Chrome and rediscovered a whole lot of screen real estate that I had been missing. Thank you Future Publishing for forcing me to do this.Martin318is said:Glad to see that everyone is so comfortable with the ads where they are now that they are happy to post off topic junk in the 'protest' thread and derail its value.

i was of the same thought, but Adblock works really well! no need to see any of that bull****Barrus said:To be honest, as long as these off-topic ads stay up so prominently I will not really be visiting the forum and will probably relocate all together.

fair enough. agreed.Barrus said:I normally do not have that many problems with advertising, it is necessary to keep many site afloat and sometimes there are interesting products or deals, especially on cycling websites. In all it has never bothered me enough to install adblock and all and I will not install it solely for this website.
Another aspect of this is that fact that it is not even the ads themselves that is my main problem with the current situation, but what these ads resemble, the lack of regard for the forum, its members and the moderators from FP/CN

Will launch once membership reaches a certain level.
Most people here post on two or three forums, so another one is just somewhere else to have fun.
