I don't know. I'll root for any but him because Nibali is not bright in any GT component. Neither climbing nor TTing. I hope Gesink will win. He suffered a lot because of the crashes and it's his big chance. I strongly dislike a type a GT rider descender.

And how well do you climb?

Sadly good enough to unsparingly ridicule climbing skills of the champion of such a grandiose scale.

:)

I never ridiculed Scarponi's climbing skills. I criticised his overly big gearing which make him very inflexible when an ascent goes in a torn-off tempo. Scarponi's frying pan insted of pedalabele gear is not the best weapon in such a situation.

Btw, someone told that Nibali had a knee injury in Peyragudes stage. I don't believe it. His team gave their 100% on Bales to try to do something. Injured rider would never have ordered things like that.
it wasn't a knee, it was the calf if I remember well. When Nibs is in difficulty he puts the whole team to pull, remember Finestre?
The pace on Bales wasn't really high, they didn't gain significant time to the breakaway. Nibali was just bluffing.

Not knee. Thigh. (his right one)

Your post was about Nibali. Not Scarponi

There isn't any rule which says to form an opinion of something, or to criticize something, you have to be good at it.
One can form an opinion as you see it or judge it.

Oh Dear, Poor Gesnik manages to stay upright on his bike in a testing first week and his prize' Airstream rooting for his win" which means he'll surely fail again. (Though perhaps he might end up getting 2nd, which ain't such a bad thing)

Glad that you are rooting against Nibali, That's a sure indicator of his victory.:p

I said many times before the Giro about who I'd root for. Gesink would the first in that list in terms of personal support. Even in this post you directly or indirectly ridicule Gesinsk's climbing skills. I really wonder what you reaction would be if Nibali and Contador would have to quit a GT...Nonetheless you constantly belittle any Froome's and Wiggins' skill (climbing, TTing, descending, handling) with false modesty as though it is mantra which appoach your riders' victory..

You sound too brazen. Do you have any way back if he won't win?

Nothing to do with anyone rooting for him (or hating on him). I saw Gesink struggling at the back of the GC group in yesterday's stage on that 4th or 3rd category climb already. I'm guessing he'll get dropped pretty hard tomorrow. The climbs don't suit him, either, IMO.

Didn't seem struggling or in any trouble. So where do you base this on? you voice your opinion as the only truth..

Anyway, with Gesink it can go both ways, before 2012 I'd say he'd certainly finish top 10 in the next mt stage. Now He could either be 3rd or 34th. It's a bit like Anton since Vuelta fall. You never know for certain wether he'll have a good or a horrible day

I think he will be fine, this is probably the best first week he could hope for. So far no sign for the bad things and his team is pretty strong. Glad he is doing the Giro.

He said it was a hard stage. Everyone was suffering. You can't even interpret things correctly. Just make everything fit in your own gospel

I know how he meant it, but he sugarcoated things during P-N, too. You should re-read those tweets of his for a better perspective. In my opinion. :)

I'd say it's unusual for a fit, but not so "explosive" GC contender to be way on the back of a still pretty large elite group on a climb when GC-relevant attacks are possible.

Whatever, man. He said himself that he suffered in that stage.

To be fair these were pretty trying conditions.

TBH, I can't forsee gesink doing a 180, his performances this season and last season (I maintain last season was unrealistic expectations with the break though, anyone who has had these injuries would know) are not great and he seems to really struggles on climbs nowadays. I can see him losing time in stage 10 for sure.

Naturally I hope I'm wrong.

So far it looks good in that regard. Only, the rider who is the most boring is not the same for the two of us ;) But anyways, if we disregard who we like and dislike, this Giro has been really cool and unpredictable so far. Really surpasses the Tour so far.

the giro always does. every year

Wiggins is still bullish about his chance, watch out other GC guys

“Physically everything is great,” Wiggins confirmed. “It’s better than it’s ever been. Hopefully now on the longer summit finishes I can put that into action - where it’s just down to the physical stuff rather than these tricky finishes like where we had the crash a couple of days ago."

“It is what it is now,” he admitted. “We’re fourth and just over a minute off the lead with two weeks left of racing - perhaps the hardest two weeks. Taking the first week in comparison to what’s left in the Giro, you’ll look back in Brescia and go ‘well actually it was nothing’. I don’t think the gap will be 1’16” in Brescia. Whoever is in pink at the time the gaps will be quite considerable.”

Voted for Cuddles in the 1st poll... see no reason to change.

Nibbles one bad day could be enough to lose it for him.

evans will lose time more often then nibbles.

Probably... maybe? But that's the uncertainty of a GT? For mine, Evans form seems to be on the improve, but if he loses time on any one stage, he may just shut it down and conserve for the Tour?

Still a wide open race, with lost of questions to be answered in the next 2 weeks.
