Froome looking beatable this Dauphiné. It's looking good for Berto :)

Froome said himself yesterday he is not in his top form and has another camp next week to hone things

On pure climbing I cannot see anyone but Froome win the Tour...maybe Quintana might be in great form ...we will see next week ....but Froome is the best climber at present IMO

Of course there are other aspects to the Tour like the 1st week , the cobbles , TT but I would say after this Dauphine Froome would have to be the favourite

No way on earth does this week make Froome outstanding favourite !. He may not be at his best yet ? but I'm suprised how well TJVG managed him.

Froome will definitely have the watts needed to win, but I actually think he is the least likely of the four to take the yellow in Paris.
Yes, the first week will be a nightmare for him and he's not exactly known for riding smart. This year he has 3 very strong rivals, I don't want to disrespect the other gc-riders but those 4 are just stronger when they are in top shape, and he'll probably be the one who tries to cover every attack. Then you have guys like Nibali and Contador who can attack on all kind of terrains and make the race really chaotic, they'll give him hell.

You mean the way Landa & Aru handled Contador on the climbs in the Giro ?? Contador could not get a stage off these guys but Froome just won 2 stages back to back at as I said not top form

I agree with you, if everything goes right and the GC guys only race on the final MTF, then yes he has a big chance to win, however this will not be the case, so I think Nibali (first week esp. cobbles and surprise attack), Quintana (climbing) and Contador (first week and surprise attack) are more likely to win.

Forget Contador at Giro. We are talking about Contador at this coming Tour. Will be a different ball game. Contador won't be tired, he's just gonna be better.

Froome not going to drop Contador at Tour.
Agree with you. Well maybe on 1 stage or so by a few seconds. But it will not crack Berto. He's a tough nut. While when Berto drops Froome or even if Froome goes all out and cannot drop Berto, Froome will likely crack mentally. Not to mention Froome might be far behind after the first week.

I thought you wanted to have a reasonable discussion ...'forget the Giro ' ?? that is what we have to base our opinions on ...what has gone on just recently with Contador

Plus if Contador was tired at the Giro he is hardly going to be fresh now

Strange logic there

He says he won't be tired for the Tour not that he was tired at the Giro.

Also Landa and Aru handled him so well at the Giro that they still lost despite AC crashing twice, having no team and an off day. Not bad.

And he was not in top form either.

Yet somehow, despite crashing and having a weaker team, Contador won with a healthy margin. I'd say that's pretty good management.

Leaving a few fun stats here, make of it whatever you want but Contador has always won the Tour when it starts off with a prologue. Since the Tour 2010, only in 2012 it started with a prologue but Contador couldn't participate.

Also the Tour 2015 goes in netherlands, belgium and France just like the last time AC won the Tour ;)

Shame for Contador it's not a prologue then.

Yes, it's not a prologue as its far too long (13.8km). Prologues are under 10km aren't they?

The one in monaco in 2009 was 15 kms long.

If you don't wanna call that a prologue then let's just say all the Tours AC won didn't start with a normal stage but with a ITT / prologue. It's just a stat .

It has nonsense but curiosity this link of wining Contador with prologue, but:

That Tour 2009, 21 stages
2015 Tour, 21 stages

2012 Tour, prologue + 20 stages.

You have to say, start with a short ITT, becouse prologue is not the word.

Prologue is below 8 km, and the difference is that there is not limit of time, you can lose whatever than you will start in the forst stage, and if you dont finish or you crash or something, you can as well start in the forst stage next day.

For the rest is exactly the same prologue than stage. ;)

Cool pic of AC in Livigno yesterday...

Weight watch: The more I see pics of him in Livigno, the more I believe he is gaining weight instead of losing some.

Chubby, chubby face on this one, not good.

Some of you are funny with the whole weight watch thing. I look at that and my first thought is; how can you even tell. He's wearing normal clothes. His face looks fine imo. Oh well....I'll leave that for the experts (BlurryVII, Flo, ect) to decide.
