Contador said that he maybe lacked a bit of sugar at the end.

No, that is utter ***. Just like Tinkoff releasing articles with things he didn't say. He is not good at the moment and that's it.

I dont know if he was lying, but he said with camera on television, so it's not tinkoff releasing anything he didn't say.

at this moment, quintana is 1.56 behind Froome. He is still a lot time to make up to Froome. And looking out Froome's form at the moment.. he isn't TJ or Thibaut either. :D[/quote]

Exactly that will make it hard for Nairo but we will see what happens tomorrow. I really hope Nairo can get back time so that he enters the mountain close to Froome. If he does, then he has a chance. He is the only one who can match the psycho attacks from Froome.

I bet Contador will continue to bleed small amounts of time until this weekend, maybe ending up with 1:15 - 1:30 down on Froome by the end of the week, but not more.
Then he will crush them all in the Alps... Froome will start to fade in third week, like he did in 2013 (Semnoz and Alpe d'Huez).

Yeah I know, but Tinkoff lied about a few things on the first day, Contador said himself "he didn't have good sensation" and they released that "he had good sensation and was happy with it".

I know today he said that in an interview but we know him after all this time now, it's obvious he doesn't have it as of today. He is lying 100% sure.

Sugar could mean a host of thing's lol. And I don't mean Clinic stuff. He's got to say something.

under the circumstances, yes. i don't know what to make of his form. i think he definitely started the race without a lot of high intensity training in his legs, so i suspect that may be part of what's going on. I've noticed he's been grimacing pretty much every stage, especially today on the penultimate climb and the run in to the Mur, so I wasn't surprised by the outcome. This reminds me a little of 2011, minus the bad luck (so far). If he can avoid any crashes or mechanicals tomorrow, I think things will start to improve. I don't expect to him to start to come good, if at all, until after the first rest day. [all of this is against the backdrop that they've planned his peak for the 3rd week of the Tour. we'll see if that's just PR non-sense]

There are 3 stages where he can gain or loose time. Cobble, Bretagne (not as hard as Muy at all) and then the TTT. Tomorrow could be a lottery, but he won't loose more than 5 sec at most at bretagne. Tomorrow he ideally should be gaining a little time on froome, or at least in the same time. In the TTT, tinkoff-saxo have a really strong team compared to SKY, so they should be able to gain maybe 20-30 seconds there.

It could be status quo between Contador and Froome when they hit the mountains, maybe +/- 15 seconds in favour of one of them.

I don't think the gap will grow, unless Froome take time on Contador on the cobbles.

I hope you're selling tickets to this POV because I want 100. :p

I sincerely hope you are right, but Froome had insane luck since the start of the Tour, reminds me a lot of the years when Sky made me lose interest in the Tour (2012, 2013).

You do realize Froome has said he will peak in the third weak.

If true that is a relief. Spoken or written source?

Spoken on television by himself. But it was more like "i dont know, maybe lacked a bit of sugar at the end".

That's exactly what's going on. He is grimacing really hard the whole time, on the flat yesterday and today, on the penultimate climb, everywhere basically.

He really didn't lie about his training, he took it really easy and played 100% the recovery card, which will make the Giro kilometers have a positive impact later on instead of negative had he trained harder.

The team saw how it worked out with Majka last year, he was really, really bad in the first week, wasn't even finishing with the peloton on flat stages, to then flying on the 2nd and 3rd week. That is the plan and that's what differs with 2013 where he just didn't have any base work whatsoever, he was *** all season.

Nobody is going to admit they peaked early. He won the Dauphine and is beating Dan Martin on his home territory. Looks like he's already peaked to me. To me, peaking for the 3rd week looks like how Quintana and Nibali are riding.

Alberto and his excuses.... :p

It's not really an excuse that fills me with much hope as it just kind of sounds the same as saying he blew or didn't have the legs. However, I think it was an honest assessment as pretty sure I saw him go for his bottle the moment he sat down.

I agree with you. I think Alberto will grab time on Froome somewhere in the first week though, not sure when.

Contador needs 5-6minutes on Froome before the mountain stages if he wants to win. Most likely on Quintana too. I think all this talk about peaking later in the race is wishful thinking. I think the first week or so will be his best week.
