Building the whole season around the Tour is pathetic.Especially after all these years without the Tour podium. What kind of rider he's become?

I guess it's hard to please everyone. Plenty here have been saying negative things about AC because he's targeted the Giro - some say that shows he's afraid of the big guns and doesn't think he can win the Tour anymore. Now he is targeting the Tour and it's pathetic. It's been several years since he has won the Tour. If he wants to win it again, it makes sense for him to have all his energies focused on it. We saw what happens when he tries the Giro first. All this aside though, I bet you he will be competitive in races other than the Tour. He isn't like 2014/15 Nibbes. He'll race to win regardless of when/where.

This candidates to some of the most stupid I have read here. How pathetic that he wants to race the Tour and, like Froome and Quintana, actually wants to to try to win hence the only-Tour focus!

.. and anybody in their right mind know Contador will do well in all the races he races regardless. Like Froome and Quintana. Its nothing special.

You can count on racing the races he participates. So please don't be ridiculous.

But since he also wants (or Oleg wants) him to do the Vuelta, I think cutting down race days early on is pretty important. To do T-A, Catalunya and Vasco is almost like a mini GT on a month. But yes, it worked super fine in 2014.

Anyways, I think he knows better :p
I believe that the approach is different next year. IMHO he is going all in thinking about the Tour only. Anything else is a bonus. But I don't believe that he will change his program thinking of the double. If any change will harm his Tour performance because of the double he will not do it. I actually think it would not be smart.

Yeah, he's said he wants to win the Tour one more time. After that, the Olympics, Vuelta are all a bonus.

And regarding Lombardia, it suits him quite well, but he was spent in July and he wants to focus on the Tour next year, so he's probably still resting now. It's not worth the effort to be in shape in Octobre for one day of racing.

still remains a regret.
since he retired in 2016, this was the last chance to win a classic on a route for climbers and and given that the Tour is over from 2 months he had to try :(

At his level nothing else counts as success.

"I'm not buying it today" said AC.

Aru seems to get along well with a lot of guys in the bunch.
Clearly with AC. We saw a few nice pics of him and Purito during the last days of the Vuelta and they joking on the podium in Madrid.

aru will be in contador's team. mark my words!!!

Won't happen. Aru looks up to Contador that's for sure since he said so many times. Or well looking up to.... Contador is his biggest inspiration.

Did you know that Froome builds his whole season around the tour and Nibs and others. Interesting that you don't know that. It's basic pro cycle knowledge ;) So they are not pathetic and Bertie is?
Your calling a multi GT winner pathetic? :D How many GT's has Bertie won?

So last year he won the Vuelta giving your boy Froome a beating all that season. This year he goes for the double wins the Giro taking on a bonkers Astana with Aru and Landa , You know Aru he just won the Vuelta. He goes into the tour and puts a fine showing considering how tough Astana made the Giro.
Last year he crashed out of the tour as did Froome. In 2013 Bertie was way off his best and I never thought he would regain the form he showed in 2014. Now if once again Bertie regains his 2014 form he will win the tour at a canter. Simple really. Your comments are based on fear. Froome does not give me sleepless nights. 2014 you must not have got much sleep. 2016 will be the same.

Designing a good race calendar for Contador is easy peasy considering that he doesn't ride classics and that he always excels in the same particular week-races.

Hmmm...here is my guess of what his best calendar would be and his results in 2016: :D

Vuelta a Andalucía (3rd Place)
*
Tirreno-Adriático (2nd Place)
*
Vuelta al País Vasco (Winner + 1 stage)
*
*
Dauphiné (2nd Place)
*
Tour de France (Winner + 2 stages)
*
Olympic Games Road Race (5th place) After this race he annouces his retirement at year end. Continuous rumours that he will not ride Vuelta a España. He announces that he is riding 5 days before the start.
*
Vuelta a España (3rd Place + 1 stage) Last race as a pro.

I think Berto will win Tirreno, Paisco (if he rides) and TDF :D then he will sign for Androni (the silver fox loves him) and he will win Giro-Vuelta in 2017 and finish his career with 4-4-4 GT titles :D

Pais Vasco is made for him, he should definitely do that! And about 2017, who doesnt want him to ride?? That would be the best thing ever if he does that :D

Yeah but he named Volta a Catalunya and not Pais Vasco in his plans for next year... I agree he should race Pais Vasco, also because it always has a nice ITT.

Rumours are that next year's ITT may even be up Arrate!

Hmmm actually that would not be as cool, the hilly itt in Pais Vasco is normally always good to check his TT shape, a MTT, not really :p

Contador at 100% is still the best in the world. I don't know when i'll get over his crash in tour 2014, It's been 5 years since i've seen such a contador.

This says Alberto will participate in a track even at the end of October

Will he be attempting to race competitively?
