i think Contador could have won this stage had the race been much harder in the final climb...looks like Froome was not on a good day and Sky bluffed perfectly

Looked really good once again today, left Froome and Quintana behind easily. But once again, someone else had to be better. If tomorrow is cancelled, that's GG to Martin for the overall and to this shitty MTF.

Any reliable source that tomorrow's stage might be cancelled?

If he actually had just one half decent teammate he could have used him to attack in the last km, and not respond to everybody elses attack all the time.

Trofimov, Jesper Hansen, Kiserlovski and Poljanski. All decent climbers, but nowhere to be seen whenever they ride with Contador. I'm not sure why, but he's almost always alone.

Simple: Oleg being a fourth-rate oligarch, he can't afford to build a first-class team.

I lost the race but judging the order of arrival and the lack of pace of others, tomorrow i expect an easy win

10km to go and Alberto is alone. What is with Tinkoff????? Still he did very well, covered multiple moves himself and still dropped everyone but Martin. This was a Martin mountain so that is okay. Tomorrow hopefully he takes the stage and the race :).

Of the day’s outcome, Alberto was pleased with the result. "At the end, unfortunately, stage victory wasn't possible. However, I'm happy even if my form wasn't very good today and I wasn't riding comfortably. Still, I was present in the attacks, I was alert in the finale and I was able to take second.”

Looking forward to see when he's comfortable!

Not a bad performance by Contador. But still not counting Froome out. This might be his way to ease in to the race. We are still remember, last year, Contador smashed Froome, just to get smashed back. Tomorrow is a proper mountain. Everyone will be place on their respected seat. Dan martin has a chance to win this race. He isn't a slouch climber either. Looks like he is in good form today.

maybe they are saved for tomorrow's stage?

Didn't look great from the front view, but then you see everyone else getting distanced way worse, so I guess it was pretty good. Did waste a lot of energy on the flatter parts of the climb there. Tragic team once again. Monjuic stage gonna have some sick action if Contador is leading by then

You can't compare a non-explosive rider with a top puncheur in a final charge like that. Of course Contador couldn't follow. That fact doesn't tell us anything about his form.

It could make sense to save some guys for tomorrow, but one teammate at the end of a climb could be the difference on a finish like today.

But well, Contador played it smart by using TJ's wheel and then attack when he was done.

It's also clear he can't be actually in the shape of Tour 2009. Anyway , tomorrow , on a a climb similar to those of the Tour and with all (Quintana, Aru, Froome) lacking pace...he need to do a good performance looking ahead to July

Of course he shouldn't be in Tour form in March :D

There's definitely still room to improve for ham, and I think we'll see that if everything goes according to the plan.

what
Why would you randomly compare this to his Tour 09' form lol
Of course he's not, we're only in march. He's in great form right now, on his best standards (2014' - 09') at this point of the year.

the same like you compare the 2014 pais vasco form with the 2015 tour. completely irrelevant and senseless too.
