Quintana has been a better rider than Contador ever since he took that victory at the Criterium du Dauphine.

Huh? He was the team leader since Ventoux for Movistar in '13 and the team leader for the whole of the 2015 tour

While thats true, he still wasn't the designated leader, no matter how hard Valverde and Unzue tried to tell us that. Valverde had huge ambitions for himself both Tours.

On the other hand, Sagan was buried for a tired Contador in 2015 and still managed to grab the points jersey as easy as he'd ever done. He would have won at least 2 stages if Contador had devoted a few people to him and he was given more of a free role on stages 2 and 4 where it was obvious he was helping Contador as much as he could until the sprint.

Quintana won since juin 2012: TA, Catalunya, Romandie and the giro.

Contador since 2012: 2 vuelta's, 1 giro, TA, 2 Basque country.



But i'm not sure how i'm hating on quintana, i just want Contador to win. But hey if you wanna be a fan of a rider who likes to be 2nd, go for it.

I don't think it'll ever happen in the tour, we'll never be that lucky especially with the bad luck riders can have in the 1st week.

But luckily there's the dauphine, 13 days

To be fair though, Quintana also won Basque country in 2013 and although he of course referred to the Criterium du Dauphine stage, Quintana just wasnt the rider back then which he is today. Looking at the results since 2013 it's definitely closer considering that two 2nd places in the tdf and a polka dots jersey also are very important achievements.

I didn't bring podum places orso, don't like it. And if i would do it i could bring up so many of Contador.

2 times second in the Catalunya, 2nd in PN, 2nd in Dauphine; 3rd in TA and so on. And his crash in the tour can be brought up too, you can do the same for quintana in the vuelta but contador crushed him every stage till then.

The win matters for me, but that's of course my opinion

2x 2nd places in the Tour matters a lot. Throw in polka dots, white jerseys and a stage win.
Contador took what, 12 seconds, on a hill finish and Quintana was with him on the next climb. The Vuelta had just started, lmao. If I remember correctly, he was going really well in the ITT as well. Please dont say that Contador was crushing him in that Vuelta. We both know Quintana's main strength - the 3rd week and big mountains.

Perform in the Tour and he would be able to silence a lot of his critics. The last 3 times, he has not only been under par, but downright bad relative to his normal strength. The Tour is what matters.
