You mean very inconsistent and best on shorter climbs? Yep. His top level seems a bit better though. But we'll have to wait for the longer climbs before we draw conclusions.portugal11 said:I'm the only one who think contador is very similar to the one we saw last year?

That pic will be my avatar when he retires.
lenric said:That is normal. A guy like Froome has to look more "emaciated" than Contador, since he has to climb very well and, since he is tall, he has to lose a lot of weight, particularly in the upper body. And since he's not only taller, but also obviously has longer arms, he'll seem like a skeleton. Bardet, to a lesser extent, also looks similar to Froome, much like Wiggins.
Quintana, for example, seems stockier than both Contador and Froome. It's perfectly normal, since he smaller.

Me three. It is a stunning photo.
For some reason, it made me think of this: https://www.bicycling.com/bullfight
I've always appreciated that Contador seems well-designed for what he's good at. He's obviously slim, but he doesn't look like he's starved - no popping out veins, no aetiolated frame, no tendons rearing out of inner elbows. If there's one thing I really dislike in modern cycling its for the obsession with weight making GC riders looking little more than bobbin headed sticks of grissini.
wheresmybrakes said:When he does attack for real, will it last? He tried it in the tour but he didn't quite have the stamina to go all the way and finish it off. Also would any of the other GC guys want to try and break away with contador only to help contador to get closer to those that broke away with him and thus maybe giving contador the chance to better their position later in the race? If contador goes on the attack, he gonna take a whole load of leaders with him including Froome because they know he's a dangerous rider no matter how far behind he is.
I don't give two *** about Froome and his image in the "traditional cycling world".Pennino said:But also a Froome victory, with the two of them giving one last two weeks of showtime in the high mountains would be very nice and would also add some credit to Froome in the traditional cycling world.
Thats really incredibly selfish on your part. I doubt Contador dislike Froome as much as you do and I doubt he will think to himself: "I can finish 3rd, but this donkey is winning so I won't even bother as he doesn't deserve such a great champion as me next to him."LaFlorecita said:I don't give two *** about Froome and his image in the "traditional cycling world".Pennino said:But also a Froome victory, with the two of them giving one last two weeks of showtime in the high mountains would be very nice and would also add some credit to Froome in the traditional cycling world.
He doesn't deserve the honor of having Alberto next to him on the podium.
No, please let Alberto finish 4th with a stage win, he'll be on the podium (all by himself) during the tribute anyway.
And we can keep the "9 podiums, 9 wins" tale alive.
I can easily fancy Bertie not winning any grand tour in his career with this way of thinking.Valv.Piti said:Thats really incredibly selfish on your part. Really, thats a bit too far.
Deny his participation. Finish 2nd behind Froome, do pistol salute anywayValv.Piti said:Whats the next thing? Not riding next to Froome?

He will not win the GC (he also has high chances of not podiuming) but still, it is fun thinking like that!
