Thanks Laflo.

I can't think of any stage race parcours that is more fit for him than this.

This is ideal for him.

He should win that ITT, i can't think of a better ITT than that for him.

  Normally he'd also be in top 10 at least in the T-A tt  I don't think he'll win the tt, maybe top 10

True but that profile of the ITT is just made for Contador. Look at the prologue of the dauphine of 2010, he wasn't in great shape (hence the ITT a few days later) then but he still won it cause it was perfect for him.

Even if he's not in great shape he should be very close.

The quoted CI participants list includes LLSanchez for Blanco. Is that current information? Has Blanco lifted LLS' team suspension? What's the source for that list?

I was sure from the beginning that this suspension was the typical alibi suspension, like Lampre did with Scarponi, Astana with Kash and Gusev, and so on. Sanchez is expensive, none of both sides is happy when he´s sitting at home.

I didn't think so, because of Blanco's sponsor search, but would gladly be wrong about that. I'd like to see LLS out racing again. Anyway, this is off-topic and clinic-y, so we can't really talk about it.

To put the thread back on topic, and maybe lift LaFlo's spirits, here's this: :D

Berto: "Andy, LaFlo said she doesn't believe I can win any more. I don't think I can stand to race at Crit Int now. Can we DNF together and go off to a bar and hold hands and talk about the good old days?"

Berto: "Hello Andy... yes I just abandoned.. yes.. I am wearing a Astana jersey just like you were wearing your leopard jacket.. ok let's meet in the airport hotel and get drunk and if someone sees us and posts on facebook about us we'll just get Kim Andersen to say it didn't really happen ¿ok?"

You don't want to know how long it took me to find that picture ...

meanwhile I found this

That's actually a historically significant photo - was from the 2010 TdF, just after the stage to Mende when Vino was away, but Contador and JRod passed him, and then JRod took the stage win. The story from that day was that Vino supposedly had some unhappy words for Alberto, and in the photo AC is supposedly on the phone with his mother while the reporters jockey for interviews.

It was always a big deal for the team and the Kazakh sponsors (understandably) that Vino get to show himself and get a stage win, so AC helps disrupts the peloton's chase a bit the next day when Vino escapes; Vino gets his stage win, and peace is restored.

Anyway, I remember seeing that photo of AC talking to his mom, hearing the story about what had happened, and thinking AC was not very likely to continue in Astana again the following year after all. (Which was too bad, because I had really liked AC and Vino in the same team - but the TdF doesn't work well with divided goals.)

Froome: "So like I was saying...we got all these numbers calculated—air temp, wind speed, heat, humidity, barometric pressure, elevation, gradient, VAMs, Vo2, kilojoules, BMI, HCT, rolling resistance, gearing, astronomy, astrology..."

Contador: "Eh...no hablo Inglés."

It is quite odd to see Alberto working...but he shouldn't been pulled very hard, so Jungels won the stage.

Oh ****, here we go again :D

Could there be any benefit in doing so? Maybe if he does not go for GC, but can he resist?

If he is considering GC then maybe he sees wiggins and nibali as easier to beat, and a more realistic way of adding to his GT tally this year.

I think that AC's ultimate career goal now is probably to equal or better Merckx GT record (11). He clearly sees himself on seven just now (as do I), and possibly does not want to come unstuck against Froome and risk losing a year.

Would be a counter-productive move IMO.

Agreed. Contador can't just ride the Giro for building his form without giving in to the temptation to compete. He loves Italy, the race and wouldn't disrespect the event by not giving anything but his best. That ultimately would ruin him for the Tour. I'd much prefer he do the Tour-Vuelta. That is much more feasible and a lot less risky.

Exactly, even if his mindset is to not compete to win he won't be able to resist. That's his nature.
