Right, these are the most obvious reasons... oh wait... the guy is just past his prime and that may well be the reason why Tinkov blasted AC the way he did. I guess Riis and AC told him year-in year-out since AC has won the Vuelta 2012 (due to (i) one desperate move to Fuente dé and (ii) Valverde and Movistar being happy with racing for second instead of chasing him down and win the race) that AC was still the best stahe racer in the world. And, surprise, he is not anymore. However, he still earns plenty of money for winning nothing, not even a stage. Tinkov paid for the année-sans of AC and has any right to be angry.

I wonder how long Riis will stay loyal to AC. Kreuziger seems ready to step up. He would have podiumed this year...

1) drop the doping insinuations
2) it was Tinkov himself who hyped Alberto to no end. Now that Alberto couldn't live up to those expectations, Tinkov is trying to defame Alberto in any way possible.

So what is our kid riding next? Plouay? What for?:D
Anyway I hope he can still win something this season: I wish Emillia (probably won't ride) and I dream of Lombardia. Or any italian autumn semi-classic for that matter.

Speaking of which, does anyone know the route? Is it different from last year?

I remember Contador was actively hyped like #1 fav before last year's TT WC race. It's pretty funny to remember it now

No, Contador hyped hisself too. Knowing full well it was not all good he talked about super attacks in the mountains which he didnt bother with, and about how he was going to race for 1st place. In the end he raced for 3rd, in a manner so desperate he had his superior teammate concede a place for him.

Will Tinkov ever leave Alberto alone?

@olegtinkov: Nicolas is a real MAN and a gentleman too, unlike Contador.IMHO.
#Vuelta

Meanwhile Roche defends Alberto against Tinkov's criticism.

Tinkov's mouth aside, the key riders on Saxo-Tinkov seem to be quite close knit. Roche was pretty vehement in his defence of Contador, and sounded very relaxed about the widely shared leadership at the Vuelta, saying that Majka and Kreuziger are friends.

The comments about Contador wanting to discuss what they could do to win every morning were pretty interesting. It's hard to know from the outside whether a rider isn't putting in big attacks for tactical reasons or because he simply doesn't have the legs.

No question about the fact that Contador lied to all of us in the tour this year.

Denying that is ridiculous, he lied to his fans, gave us false hope. That's the only reason why i even believed he could win the tour, cause he said he could.

He was gonna be better than in the vuelta, yea right

It was painful to see him ride the tour this year.

He never said he could...he always qualified it: try, won't give up, will do all I can, etc.

I can only assume that you and Hitch are very young. Maturity teaches one to appreciate greatness when it is there and not downgrade someone when it is no longer present. A lesson Tinkoff obviously hasn't learned yet either.

When did Contador try and win the tour in the last week?

He will ride Milano Torino and Lombardia, no Emilia

He didn't because he didn't have the legs. That is pretty obvious from Roche's words. He wanted to but couldn't.

Either you are trolling or you have poor comprehension skills. Contador is being attacked for lying, not because some imagined greatness you saw in him has disapeared or whatever.

The difference between me and you is I hold everyone to the same standards. You hold succesful cyclists or at least the ones you like, up on a pedestal. If a rider you didn't like behaved that way, you would attack them yet for Contador it's ok because he is great or whatever.

Me I treat those 2 impostors just the same.

FFS. You turn your back to Alberto as soon as it gets tough. Everything he did or does is wrong. Everyone who is somewhat positive about Alberto gets attacked. You are a fair weather fan. We know it by now. Go whine somewhere else.

actually I was his biggest fan on here throughout his ban. A ban where he lost a tdf the opportunity to win 1 seems to.me a lot tougher than simply not winning one.

Everything he did or does is wrong.

No they don't. Actually carols was the one that attacked me and not me picking on poor innocent Contador fans. Get your facts straight.

You are a fair weather fan. We know it by now.
no you don't. You don't like the truth and don't have the balls to face it so you choose to blame the messenger by throwing some untrue title on me.

I stood by Contador through his ban? Was that fair weather now? Really?. No it wasn't it was a dark year long winter storm.

I stood through that, a lot taller than you who kept whining and crying everytome it appeared Contador would not win a race, threatening to stop supporting Contador.

I stood by Contador through the darkest days of his career, as did mbiuro, and because of that you have no right to call us fair weather fans.

Go whine somewhere else
if only you had taken this advice at some point in the last 2 years, you may have been in a position right now to tell others where they can and cannot whine.

Can someone please explain to me, in what way Contador was lying? This is a serious question. Do you consider him saying to have a fair shot at the TdF title and then getting 4th lying? Or what exactly do you mean? Or do you think the internal view of SaxoTinkoff already was that he will not stand a chance and they still claimed to fight for the win publicly?:confused::confused:
