“It was something that hurt me a lot because I take a lot of care to detail. It was said that I took an unnecessary risk,” he said. “I'm a racer that knows what I'm doing and that is important to me. You have to be aware and try to avoid all risks, try to avoid any problems. For that reason it makes it even more annoying to have had a fall like that when you're careful.”

“I thought only about finishing the stage with grupetto but I saw that what I had was very serious and could not continue,” explained Contador. “I had excruciating pain and could not continue pushing the pedals. After five seconds without pedalling, I could not move my leg back because I was cooling so quickly. With a lot of sadness I told my teammates that I could not continue.

The AC junior team is pretty good:p:eek:

Sorry for you, keep dreaming. We are busy watching LeTour :)
i hope you use your eyes well watching the tour , the way you respond makes me think you don't use your brain the way it could function. Think again or try thinking for the first time. NO Chance of that happening? i will be watching for improvement in your case. About half a dozen riders had a "chance to win" this tour.. a few are even left who still have a chance. But Contador didn't? (laughs) you certainly have an interesting point. Are you saying that because YOU knew from the start he was going to crash?

Props to T-Nielsen for source.

wow, I'm speechless. I guess we all know how devastated the team loosing Contador. They knew that he could had a better chance to win his 3rd (4th) TDF. Gosh, sometimes cycling can be so cruel. I don't know how the rider can cope with that. When they succeed, they are shooting to the star, when they got bad luck, they are out. No in between.

Looking at Nibali, I would say that Bertie would not have beaten him at the TDF. Nibali is quite strong and I think he would have followed AC's attacks.

No one can answer this for sure because we don't see them head to head. For me the question or the assumption that Nibali is better, just didn't make any sense. But my mind would say that I saw how Nibali accelerates and compare to how Froome accelerates with Contador on the Dauphene or Contador on Vais Pasco - leaving Valverde, Froome/Contador has a longer acceleration than Nibali. So it's possible Nibali won't be able to follow. But of course, this is just rubbish argument because nothing to back it up. It's just pure speculation based on what your heart would like to say. So for me, no answer, until next year.

don't know , I saw those accelerations of Froome in Dauphine, 2nd stage mountains and after all those attacks he took only 4 seconds to the 3rd place, Kelderman.
It may looks powerfull on TV but it's not so efficient. Neither Quitana has that acceleration but with his own pace he can easily catch and pass Froome, at this time.

Giro and Vuelta are GTs too, you know. And well, Alberto doesn't have to prove anything to us, he's in great shape and he knows it. We all would have liked him to win a GT this year, a stupid crash denied him another Tour win, so be it, but he doesn't have anything to prove :)

And winning either of those would work too. Tour of course would come with some benefits over winning the others.
-It's more popular then the other two, so he would show all (even the July only fans) that's he still has it.
-He would likely beat the best in Froome (and probably others assuming Quintana and Nibs go to it) and show he's better then what we saw in 2013.
-And he would just show once and for all he can get one last Tour win after coming back from his suspension (this one less of a benefit then the other two, but still have to include it).

I would like him to do the giro but it would feel like he's running away. He needs to do the tour one more time.

Beat the best at the tour, just one time, to prove everyone that he's still as great as a few years ago.

ohh here we go again...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_C-SoEqVLU
Look at this vid from 1:38 to 2:30 Froome and Contador rode half the pace Nibali and Keldermann did.
If they wanted they would have made at least half a minute (probably more) on the rest.

(I counted they had 19 seconds on them after 2nd Froome accleration, that was 4.7 km to go)

no point responding to fools who think with the wrong mouth.

I think Carols is right. no matter wht we wish for, Oleg still thinks Tour is supercool. tht fool wont let AC do the Giro :(

I dont think AC shud worry abt July-only fans. Tour is shiit compared to other GTs.

Also, it makes no sense making the comparison three weeks prior to TdF.

Nibali s strong, no doubt, but Péraud was there with him on Risoul. I have a hard time believing Péraud would have matched neither AC or Froome.

You are a bit too harsh to Oleg here.He doesnt think Tour is supercool,he critizes frenchies and Aso and he said Giro is better race.
But he knows that sponsors and money comes from TdF,unfortunately he has no choice...
(of course unless he invents something like in boxing, secret paid money for Tinkoff-Saxo when AC will start at Giro, lets say 1M euro:p)

But it also means more stress, more sacrifices and a bigger chance of failure. And the last thing Alberto needs right now, after the last few years, is another failure.
