If AC returns to this year's pre-tour form, he can do a giro-tour double.

I had missed the last 5 stages. thankful tht the real battle happened today, while i can see it.

All Hail the King, Alberto Condator!!!!!

Alberto 6 (8) vs. Froome 1

Froome gave it his best shot but the Pistolero had the last one. Bang, Bang!

I hope he takes down the ITT tomorrow also.

He won't risk crashing in the streets. Froome for the win. He deserves a prize.

Second step is prize enough.....

I want Alberto to take WT. Is that possible?

if anyone has the clip of the actual AC attack, plz post it.
the stupid eurosports decided to cut away just when AC was attacking. :(

The producers cut to Aru and Purito, so there were no live images of the attack. Only the first 0.1 second. :D

Absolutely not. I like Froome, but he would leave it to him? Already forgotten his statements on Alberto last year? And the Tour 2013?

I thought he should follow Froome's wheel including as they cross the line. Froome deserved the win and the strength between the 2 was too close to call. If u reverse the situation with Alberto attacking and Froome following, I think Froome could have done the same thing today that Alberto did to him with the benefit of drafting and counter attacking after an attack. Froome deserved to win after doing the damage again today in my eyes.

No mercy torwards Froome, Froome has no either.
They are big rivals, bigger than Schleck vs Contador.

I would agree to an extent if Contador sprinted around him in the last hundred metres. But he attacked with nearly 1km to go and opened up a large gap which he kept increasing until the end. He shouldn't have to ride within himself for the remaining 5 minutes and give the stage away when he is the stronger rider.

There is no such thing as "deserving to win" in high competitive endurance sports. Either you win or you dont.

The difference after today's stage is 56 points. Alberto takes 70 points more than Valverde for GC. So Alberto will have a 14 point advantage. It will come down to Lombardia, and maybe we'll see a showdown in Beijing.

Contador could pick up some useful points tomorrow as well. If he gets a 21 point lead, he can just wheel suck Valverde around Lombardia :)

I really hope Alberto won't race Beijing, the air is polluted, the meat is contaminated, the course doesn't even suit him, and it's too late in the season.

It won't do any good to race until mid october, or whenever the hell that race kicks off, he has to take a proper rest, and prepare 2015 early on to be as good as he was this year or even better.

Ps: He reconfirmed that he will not be racing WC even he is in the provisional starting list.

I dont see the math. AC usually stops riding after his last GT. Lombardia will most likely decide the outcome.

dit: i forgot the meat argument. :p that too

Exactly :) If he wins that's 16 points more tomorrow. Bala not bad at short TT but hopefully Alberto wants to beat Froome (again) :)

ROTFL!!!!!

Froome raced bravely and did his best to win the stage. You could even argue that he was stronger than Alberto today. He did tow him up the mtn. However that was not enough. Froome failed in what he needed to do. He will be the first to admit that. So he does not deserve to win anything other than most combative rider today.
Alberto proved beyond a shadow of a doubt he was the best rider over the three weeks of the Vuelta and deserves the win today and overall GC.

I doubt he will do Beijing, I don't think he cares too much about the WT.
